NBA Playoff Picks - Bucks vs. Nets
It got ugly for the Bucks in Brooklyn on Saturday afternoon.
The final score – 115-107 Nets victory – doesn’t fully indicate how lopsided this game became down the stretch, when Brooklyn went up by 19 with just under four minutes remaining and then gave up 11 straight meaningless points to the Bucks to end the game.
They also did it without the assistance of James Harden, who left with an injured hamstring in the first minute of the game and won’t be available for Game 2.
It didn’t matter. The Nets did a little bit of everything to win this game, with excellent ball movement (25 assists), solid 3-point shooting (15-for-40), and the usual wizardry from Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.
When you look at the box score though, two players stand out: Joe Harris, who was 5-for-9 from deep, and Blake Griffin, who was 4-of-9 from long range. Milwaukee’s defense conceded deep looks to those guys, and they paid for it.
On the other end of the court, the Nets dared the Bucks to shoot all night long, and they could do no such thing. Milwaukee finished 6-of-30 from deep in this game, which was the second worst long range shooting night they’ve had all year. Despite that major failing, this was a 10-point game with seven minutes to go.
This spread is essentially a pick ’em which is a scary proposition given how much the Nets ended up running away with Game 1, but if you assume a few less makes from Brooklyn’s supporting cast and anything resembling a normal performance from the Bucks, who were a top-five 3-point shooting team in the regular season by any metric, Game 2 has to go the other way.
