Clippers vs. Jazz Prediction: Game 1 Odds, Picks & Betting
NBA Playoff Picks - Clippers vs. Jazz
The odds makers are showing an awful lot of respect here for a four-seed that just needed seven games to dispatch its first-round opponent.
Then again, the Clippers have arguably the two best players in this series, and while Utah has a year-long net rating that suggests they’re worthy of more respect, after the All-Star break, LA’s net rating was third best in basketball at a contention-level 7.0.
The question is whether Los Angeles got over its playoff hump. On one hand, they’ve just won four of five games against a player who might be the very best offensive threat in the sport right now. On the other hand, they didn’t respond until their backs were against the wall against a team that flatly wasn’t very good outside of their best player.
LA is also extremely thin, essentially resorting to a seven-man rotation in Game 7. Utah is incredibly deep, and is able to put 10 players on the court who all feel at home in the playoffs.
This is going to be a good, long series, and while the Clippers may emerge on top, this feels like one where Utah will feed off the home crowd energy to take one against a team that played only 48 hours ago.
