Thus far this postseason, the Clippers have been a tale of two teams.

In one corner, we have the team that shows up in Games 1 & 2 of a series. This team has an 0-6 record, is 1-4-1 against the spread, and has continually had folks counting them out of these series, not once, not twice, but three times.

In the other corner, we have the team that shows up after Game 2 is over. That team, following a 106-92 win in Game 3 against the Suns, has a 9-1 record, both on the court and against the spread. They have also outscored their opponents by a total of 126 point over those 10 games for an average scoring differential that would have led the league by a comfortable margin.

Yet somehow, they are not favored, at home, in Game 4.

Why is this? The likely answer is that Kawhi Leonard is not going to be back, which is a fair critique of any notion that the Clips should be favored. That said, LA has a far better net rating with Kawhi off the court in this postseason (+10.9) than with him on (+3.3). Obviously there’s a lot of noise in those numbers and Los Angeles would love to have their best player back healthy, but it also debunks the notion that they’re a floundering mess without him. Remember, they’re two missed Paul George free throws and a miracle play away from being up 2-1 in this series.

And then there is Devin Booker, who hasn’t been the same since getting his nose busted up in Game 2. Book was 5-for-21 in Game 3, including 1-for-7 from deep. Throw in the fact that Chris Paul clearly still isn’t himself, and that the Clips won Game 3 going away despite arguably Paul George’s worst game in a while (27 points, but on 26 shots), and it’s not hard to see another easy Clipper win. That'd be my Suns vs Clippers prediction for game 4!
