NBA props expert John Hyslop is here with his top player prop pick for Friday night's NBA action.

NBA Player Prop Picks for Friday: Backing a Backup's Point Total

It's NBA Friday. That means NBA player props. I was blown away by DraftKings' offerings tonight since they were nothing like I've seen in the last couple of weeks. We're talking points totals for backups, turnovers, steals + blocks, all the old-school stuff. To show my appreciation, I figured we should take some of their cash. It feels like the right thing to do. I wanted to take more plays, but I can't on a night where I have one like this. I couldn't imagine this one losing, so it needs to be showcased. Our Friday night will be all about Jarred Vanderbilt.

Jarred Vanderbilt Over 6.5 points (-125) - DraftKings

Timberwolves vs. Clippers Odds

DraftKings is the place for this one, but BetMGM has it too. The only difference is BetMGM is charging -135. There is no way I'll pay more when I can pay less. That's dumb. If you are playing at FanDuel, I don't think this guy will get a number there. So it's time to go another route.

This one is about the books not being able to price Vanderbilt accurately. Over the last four games, Vanderbilt has been playing more minutes. He started three of them, which explains the uptick, but even in the last one, he came off the bench and still played 26 minutes. (It should be noted that he only played 16 minutes against Denver on October 30th, but that was due to foul trouble. We're not going to try to predict those.)

The Timberwolves have the Clippers again tonight, so they will likely need Vanderbilt again. He scored 13 points off the bench against them Wednesday night, and while I don't expect that again, it wouldn't shock me if he did. Vanderbilt took 13 shots that night, which was a season-high. Tonight I have him taking 6-9 shots which should get him into double digits again.
