NBA Player Prop Picks for Wednesday: Trusting the Usage

Tonight is likely to be an event. One that we will remember for the rest of our lives. Visions of us sitting on our couches watching random NBA players compile statistics will stay with us forever after tonight. I can't wait. There are 13 games on the slate, so it took me longer than normal to go through them all. I still do the same amount of mental simulations no matter how big the slate (integrity), so that was why we faced a long turnaround time. Still, through it all, I think I may have found two of the best bets I've ever seen.

Jaren Jackson Jr over 6.5 rebounds (+115)

Line available at DraftKings at time of publishing.

DraftKings is where I'm playing this one. BetMGM and FanDuel both have the same number but for different prices. BetMGM came in at +110 while FanDuel tossed up +104. As always, we're going with the best number we can find. DraftKings has that.

Triple-J is hitting his stride at this point, and I'm here for it. He's long been one of my favorite players in the NBA because he does everything. Including rebounding the basketball. Over his last three outings, JJJ has pulled down at least eight rebounds in every game. He even fouled out in one of the games, and another was against the Denver Nuggets, who are very good on the glass.

Tonight he gets a team that's not so good on the glass in the Charlotte Hornets. In fact, only four teams in the NBA are worse on the season so far. Combine that with the fact that the Hornets are a chuck and duck type team operating at the second-fastest pace in the NBA, and we have something here. I love this bet.

Daniel Theis over 8.5 points (-116)

Line available at FanDuel at time of publishing.

I wimped out on this one. I'm not too much of a wimp to admit it either, which makes me strong. I had the choice of taking Theis at 9.5 +105 at both DraftKings and BetMGM, but I opted for FanDuel's 8.5 for -116. It just felt right.

The angle here is simple, Theis should be on the floor more tonight than normal. I don't think Alperen Sengun is playing tonight as he popped up on the injury report with an "illness." In my experience, that means the kid is not going to suit up. That's just how it goes in the NBA.

Even if Sengun does play, we're still good here. The Detroit Pistons can't defend the five. The ghost of Blake Griffin just put up 13 points against them, and Thanasis Antetokounmpo hit them for nine in only 20 minutes. Theis has gone for 14 and 18 in his last two games, so he knows how to take advantage of a weak Detroit frontcourt. I think he scores at least nine points tonight.
