NBA Player Prop Picks for Thursday: Swishing and Dishing
It's Thursday night, and we need to get tricky to beat these books. What I like to do is find low bars to clear at big prices and see what magic can be made possible. We all know that sharing is caring, so I went right to the assist market first. What I found was shocking. Alright, maybe not shocking, but I got pretty excited. We are getting to pull a take-a-shot downfield play on the books, and we can do it in the same game—just majestic things happening today people.
Drew Eubanks Over 1.5 Assists (+120)
Doug McDermott Over 1.5 Assists (+190)
Lines available at DraftKings at time of publishing.
Alright, so we're at DraftKings for this one because they have the best prices here. FanDuel isn't giving a number on either guy, although you can take Eubanks at 2+ -113. No thanks. BetMGM doesn't even have numbers up yet, but they should at some point today. They are usually very good about hitting everyone, too, so there's that.
This is just about trying to hit one. Obviously, we want to hit both, but if we hit one, we walk with a little change in our pockets. We could all use a little change. The one I think is better is the Eubanks number at 1.5 +120. In his last five games, that guy has seen almost five potential assists per game. He should see his ceiling in terms of minutes tonight, being that Karl Anthony-Towns is on the other team.
As for McDermott, he's a shooter, not an assist guy. But at this price for only two of them, he can be our shot downfield. He's playing 25+ minutes on a nightly basis, and the Spurs move the ball around. Only one team in the league sees more of their field goals come via the assist than San Antonio. In his last four games, McDermott has recorded at least two assists in three of them, so this isn't unheard of.
We are getting a decent opponent in the sense that I don't think anyone blows anyone else out tonight. Close game equals minutes. On top of that, the Timberwolves aren't great defensively and allow almost 60% of opponents field goals to come assisted. I think at least one of these guys ends up with two assists tonight—hopefully, both.
