NBA Player Prop Picks for Tuesday: Backing Alec Burks for His Starting Nod
With the way the schedule works out tonight, we absolutely have to have action on the early games. If not, us east coasters are waiting until 10:00 pm ET for action, which is entirely unacceptable. That's why I dive back into the slate after lunch every day. We just can't have issues like this going undetected. It wouldn't be right. Also, when you deep dive a second time into the slate, you see things you may have missed, things like Alec Burks' point total.
Alec Burks Over 14.5 Points (-116)
Lines available at FanDuel at time of publishing.
This is a FanDuel special. Both DraftKings and BetMGM have already adjusted to 15.5. They are both at -115 for that 15.5, so it doesn't matter where you go. I'd prefer the 14.5 for -116 that FanDuel is offering for obvious reasons.
Let me tell you a little bit about Alec Burks. We've all met him if you've ever played pickup basketball before. He's the guy that wants to handle the ball but also wants to shoot every time. He will lead the team in shot attempts if he plays even close to the number of minutes as everyone else. He's never seen a shot he didn't like. It's actually impressive.
Well, now the Knicks are starting him as Kemba Walker has fallen out of the rotation. This is pretty much a dream spot for Burks because coach Tom Thibodeau will keep him on the floor all night, and he probably has the green light to play chuck and duck. He just led the team in shot attempts in his first game as a starter, and they won, so there is that.
Tonight he's going to get Patty Mills and James Harden defending him, which is where you want to be if you are Alec Burks. You would have to go all the way back to November 12th to see a game where a point guard didn't hang at least 15 points on the Nets. That night Devonte' Graham could only manage 14. So if Burks takes at least 15 shots tonight, he should get home on this number, given the circumstances.
