NBA Parlay Breakdown

Only three games to choose from today, and we’re hoping to nail our selections after being let down on two occasions yesterday – yup, parlay’s are tough!

The Brooklyn Nets will look to punish a Dallas Mavericks team, who, according to their head coach, “aren’t built for defense” later today. To make matters worse for the Mavericks, they’re sweating on the availability of both Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis, with the pair both having their names on today’s injury report. However, even with their star duo, the Mavericks have been on an awful stretch of form that has seen them win just 3 of their last 10 games, so facing off against Kevin Durant and the Nets couldn’t have come at a worse time for Jason Kidd’s men. The Nets have the 6th best defense in the league right now and are just outside of the top-10 in offense, too, while the Mavericks hover around 20th in the NBA on both ends of the floor. Unfortunately, the Nets have won 7 of their last 10 outings and won’t fear Doncic or Porzingis in their current fitness state. As such, we’re backing the Nets to win on a -5 spread because if Doncic decides to ball out, the game is going to be incredibly close. Otherwise, the Nets are candidates to record a blow-out win tonight.

Now we have the San Antonio Spurs against the New York Knicks, a battle between a resurgent side and a team embroiled in chaos. Oh, how the tables have turned! The Spurs started the year wondering where their next win was coming from but have been stacking up the Ws in recent weeks, even running the Phoenix Suns close last night. While the Knicks have no idea what their best starting line-up is, who their best rotation pieces are, or how they’re meant to find the consistency that saw them become a surprise playoff team last season. Having won only four of their last ten games, the Knicks have slid in all major statistical categories. They now find themselves 21st in the league for net rating, having occupied a top-10 spot over the opening few weeks of the season. The Spurs, on the other hand, have been slowly climbing out of the basement, and now with an 8-14 record, they find themselves sitting 15th in the league for net rating – precisely in the middle. Of course, the Knicks have the more talented roster, but at the moment, you would be crazy to expect them to handle their business professionally. So, we’re backing the Spurs on a +11 spread because if the Knicks win, it’s not going to be by a landslide, and if the Spurs win, we win, so this spread makes perfect sense for what we’re trying to achieve.

Boston Celtics vs. Los Angeles Lakers Same-Game Parlay

  • Boston Celtics +9
  • Over 204.5 points

Odds: -141

Celtics vs Lakers Odds

Honestly, when I saw the Los Angeles Lakers were slightly favored over the Boston Celtics for tonight’s game, I got excited. This is the same Celtics team that destroyed the Portland Trail Blazers and ran the Utah Jazz mighty close the night before. The same Celtics team defeated the Lakers by 22 points in mid-November and has only continued to improve on the offensive end since. So, great! We can bet the spread and cover our bases on both sides of the coin – thank you, basketball Gods! Anyway, the Lakers will likely have both LeBron James and Anthony Davis available tonight, with both being listed as probable to start the day. At the same time, Jaylen Brown is far more unlikely to see the court, as the Celtics are waiting on his hamstring issues to be 100% healed rather than rushing him back. Since their loss to the Celtics a couple of weeks back, the Lakers have won one, lost one over their last seven games, showing their lack of consistency.

However, if the purple and gold want to keep that rhythm going, it won’t end well for the Celtics because the Lakers lost against the Los Angeles Clippers in their last contest. Honestly, this game will be a battle, as it always is between the NBA’s biggest rival franchises. Jayson Tatum usually enjoys getting hot in the Staples Center. He is a risk to go for 40 or more tonight, especially if he’s shouldering the majority of the offensive load in Brown’s absence. A +9 spread will give us plenty of confidence heading into this contest, as we can win in two different ways. Now all that’s left is to get the popcorn and nachos ready as we watch two elite teams go to battle later today.
