NBA player prop picks for Thursday night's San Antonio Spurs vs. Denver Nuggets game. Don't miss which player John Hyslop is backing in this one

NBA Player Player Prop Picks Thursday: Big Night Ahead for Jakob Poeltl

There are only three games on the NBA slate which feels a little weird since there were close to 1000 yesterday. A lot of people would look at this development as a bad thing, but not us. We're too deep in the game for all that nonsense. We already know that a three-game slate gives us the opportunity to dive a little deeper and get a little dirtier looking for our next move. I got as dirty as a person could possibly get with this one, people.

Spurs vs. Nuggets odds

Jakob Poeltl Over 11.5 Points (-118)

Lines available at FanDuel at time of publishing.

FanDuel is the spot for this one but barely. Both DraftKings and Barstool are offering 11.5 at -120 which is playable but how can we look cool in front of our friends if we don't say we chose one over the other because of the difference between -118 and -120? It just makes sense.

We've got experience with Jakob Poeltl since he's made us a little coin this season. Still, I'll give you fair warning, this is going to be a rough ride. With Poeltl, we're really not getting 20-point upside but for what he lacks in ceiling, he makes up for in floor. He's a big floor guy.

In his last eight games, Poeltl has gone over 11.5 points in six of them. While he's scored at least 12 points in all of those games, he hasn't scored more than 15 in any of them. Steady Eddie is what they would call this guy on the streets if his name was Eddie but it's not.

The only thing that scares me about taking this guy is the fact that he shoots free throws like he's blindfolded. He legit shoots 32.4% from the stripe. I coach a 6th-grade girls basketball team and we have multiple girls that shoot a higher percentage.

The free throws shouldn't be an issue tonight since the Spurs are playing the Nuggets. Last time they met Poeltl only played 26 minutes and still scored 15 points while only having to go to the free-throw line once. Nikola Jokic really isn't a "foul guy" since he hasn't had more than 3 fouls in his last eight games. He's coming off a game where Jonas Valanciunas dropped 27 so I think we're ripe for another 12-15 point game out of Poeltl. Feels right.
