Wednesday's NBA player prop pick from handicapper John Hyslop is in. We take a look at the Hornets vs. Spurs matchup and focus on a certain big man

NBA Player Prop Picks for Wednesday: Jakob Poeltl Set For Big Showing

I need to confess. I'm getting waxed by a cold that I absolutely can't shake right now. It all started yesterday afternoon and it was so bad I went and got a Covid test (negative). I was only able to get through the early games last night (trooper) and it was tough capping all the games today. Still, like a true champion (not bragging), I was able to find a play that I think will end up in the gambling hall of fame. This one feels like pure magic and could end up being my own personal flu game even though I would never actually say that publicly (too humble). It's time people.

Spurs vs. Hornets odds

Jakob Poeltl Over 12.5 Points (-117)

Lines available at Barstool at time of publishing.

Barstool has the best price on this one so that's the spot today. FanDuel and DraftKings are both in the -118 to -120 range so they aren't bad options either. At the moment, we're still waiting on BetMGM to see what they come up with. I'm guessing they'll be in line with DraftKings and FanDuel but you never really know.

This is one of the toughest guys in the NBA to figure out but I think I may have mastered the task. Poeltl has nights where he can't miss and others where he doesn't even shoot the ball. It's crazy. But the fact remains, in his last three games not having to go up against Nikola Jokic, he's scored at least 13 points in all of them. He even dropped 24 last time out which is like a 40-burger for most guys.

Tonight he gets the softest matchup a center can possibly get. The Charlotte Hornets are in town and they give up more points to the center position than any other team in the NBA. They've got the worst defensive efficiency rating of any NBA team on the planet and they're missing guys because of Covid. I'm shocked that the line on this game is only 3.5 but if Charlotte can hang around, Poeltl should drop at least 13 points on them.
