NBA Parlay Breakdown

Christmas may be over, but the NBA is still struggling with the Coronavirus surge throughout the league, which means we're still battling to find reliable value on a game-to-game basis. As such, we're backing underdogs with enormous spreads, hoping that their diminished teams can keep things respectable enough for us to make some profit.

To begin our multi-team parlay, we have the Toronto Raptors facing off against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Both teams have been decimated by their players entering into health and safety protocols, but it would seem that Toronto have had things a little bit worse. With 12 players missing from their rotation, including all their primary offensive and defensive stalwarts, the Raptors are going to be relying on G-League call-ups to get the job done. However, the Cavaliers find themselves in a similar position, with eight guys out and Isaac Okoro listed as questionable to start the day, but the difference between these two teams is Cleveland still has two of their best offensive players available for tonight's game. Darius Garland and Lauri Markkanen have both played well so far this season and will likely be excited at facing a Raptors team who will struggle to contain them. We're expecting the Cavaliers to win tonight, but are backing the Raptors on a +12 spread, with the hope that Nick Nurse's coaching methods can keep things close enough that his team doesn't suffer a blow-out loss.

Next up, we have the Detroit Pistons against the San Antonio Spurs, with Greg Popovich's men heavily favored to come out of this game victorious. Even when full strength, the Pistons have struggled to win games, so now, with 9 players missing due to health and safety, you have to wonder how bad they're going to be. Factor in Jerami Grant's absence and Cade Cunningham also being unavailable, the Pistons offense projects to grind to a halt early and often. The Spurs, on the other hand, are only missing four players, and none of them project to be integral to their chances of success tonight. Keldon Johnson, Dejaunte Murray, Lonnie Walker, and the rest of San Antonio's rotation all have the green light for tonight's contest, making the matchup borderline unfair for Detroit. Of course, we're aware of Detroit's struggles, but in order to find good value, will be backing them to keep this game within 16 points which will allow us to cover the spread.

Finally, we will be casting our attention to the Indiana Pacers against the Chicago Bulls, in a contest that isn't currently ravaged by COVID. Sure, both teams are missing a couple of guys, but their primary rotations are intact for the most part. Indiana will start the day sweating on the availability of Malcolm Brogdon and Domantas Sabonis but can still call on the likes of Myles Turner and Caris LeVert to help them keep things respectable. Chicago, who were hit hard by the outbreak a few weeks ago, has only competed in two games over the last two weeks and may struggle for fitness if the game is physical and goes down to the wire, but their form this season suggests they should be good enough to jump to an early lead and maintain it. Indiana, on the other hand, has struggled on defense over the last two weeks, ranking 28th in the NBA, and losing games by an average of 5.5 points per contest. We're expecting the Bulls to take advantage of Indiana's poor defensive coverage, and expecting either Brogdon or Sabonis to miss this game as they continue their recovery from injury. As such, we're backing the Pacers on a healthy +14.5 spread, which projects to have great value in terms of converting into a win for us.

No Paul George, Kawhi Leonard, Marcus Morris, or Isaiah Hartenstein means that the Los Angeles Clippers are the underdogs for their contest against the Denver Nuggets later today. Sure, the Nuggets have their own injury issues to contend with but will be boosted by the probable return of Aaron Gordon, and of course, can always rely on the reigning MVP Nikola Jokic. Don't get things twisted, the Nuggets have struggled recently, and find themselves ranked 20th for both offense and defense over the last two weeks, but the Clippers' lack of star talent makes them vulnerable. This is a Clippers team built around their two star wings, and while they remain competitive without Leonard, losing George to protocols has blunted their already struggling offense. It's fair to expect this game to be gritty, but the Nuggets have played that way all season, as they continue to deal with multiple long-term injuries to some of the core pieces. As such, we're expecting Denver to win tonight, but are asking the Clippers to cover a +11 spread to help us recoup some of the money we spent over the holiday period.

Washington Wizards vs. Philadelphia 76ers Same-Game Parlay

Washington Wizards +11

Over 206.5 Points

Odds+127

Bradley Beal and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope both being out for the Washington Wizards will be a big blow to their chances against the Philadelphia 76ers tonight, as will the absence of Thomas Bryant down the middle. Of course, the Sixers have their own issues to contend with, most notable Danny Green and Andre Drummond being ruled out for tonight's contest, however, Joel Embiid is healthy and will participate in tonight's game, which instantly gives Philadelphia the edge. Washington's defense has been leaky recently and ranks 27th in the NBA over the last two weeks, which will have Embiid licking his lips at the thought of a possible 40-point night. It's worth noting that the Sixers have struggled recently too, losing 4 of their last 5 games, and looking awful on both ends of the floor - they're certainly missing Ben Simmons' impact. Still, in a game where their roster looks far superior, the Sixers look likely to snap out of their lull and earn a victory tonight, giving us an opportunity to back the Wizards covering a +11 spread, and in doing so, rounding out our day's parlays.
