Monday's NBA player prop pick and prediction from Handicapper John Hyslop. John turns his focus to the Houston Rockets tonight and gives us his take on what we can expect from Christian Wood.

NBA Player Prop Pick: It's Christian Wood Night

Sometimes a great NBA bet just falls into your lap. Whether it's due to injuries, Covid protocols or just dumb luck. It happens. Well people, it happened again today. If we're being honest, I was shocked when I saw this number. We've got a good player in a good matchup at a good price. That's all we're looking for in this game we play.

Rockets vs. Hornets odds

Christian Wood 20+ Points (+116) - FanDuel

I went to FanDuel for this one since they have the 20+ option. DraftKings has 25+ for +300 but if you were going that route, I'd stay at FanDuel because they have +330 for that option. If you just want to go with the standard line, you could go to Barstool and get 18.5 for -112. I like the plus odds though since we're only talking a one-point difference.

Let me tell you people a little bit about Christian Wood. He's filthy. The guy may only be 6'9", but he plays like he's 6'10". Maybe even taller. Another thing about him is the fact that he likes scoring at least 20 points when he plays at least 28 minutes. He must because he's done it in 10 of the last 11 times it's occurred.

Tonight the Rockets might get smashed and Wood's playing time would take a hit if that happens but he still should see at least 28 minutes. That should be all he would need since the Rockets are playing the Charlotte Hornets who are the worst in the NBA at defending the center position. The last time the two teams met Wood hung 33.

Charlotte hasn't seemed to fix this issue since they've given up a 20-20 game to the opposing center in their last two games. Granted it was Nikola Jokic and Rudy Gobert but a 20-20 game is a 20-20 game. I don't know if Wood will grab 20 boards but he should be able to score 20 points. This feels like a good deal at +116.
