NBA player props expert John Hyslop is here with his top player prop pick for Saturday night's New Year's Day, NBA action.

NBA Player Prop Picks For Saturday: New Year, Same Jrue

First off, Happy New Year's! The first day of the new year always brings opportunity and hope. It means a lot of things to a lot of people but for me, it means gambling. There's no better day to start or continue a heater than the first day of the year. So for that reason, I'm going to make sure I bet something that has a 0% chance of losing. It just makes sense. Luckily, the first game I looked at had one of these bets just hanging around in the points section. It's time people.

Jrue Holiday Over 18.5 points (+100)

Line Available at Fanduel at Time of Publishing

I'm quoting FanDuel here but you can play this one at DraftKings or Barstool if you want. They both have the exact same price. The book I monitor that doesn't is BetMGM and they are hanging 18.5 at -105 which isn't bad. It's all deadly really.

To get behind this move, you have to understand Jrue Holiday. He's a stone-cold killer and the way he spells his name is all-time. He's generally the best basketball player on any court he's on but he likes to make everyone else around him better so you hardly notice. Obviously, he's a team guy which you have to appreciate. The only knock I have on him is there is no way he's really 6'3" like he's listed. He's 6'2" at the tallest. Who hasn't lied about how tall they are though? We can let him slide there.

The thing about Jrue is he hates the New Orleans Pelicans (probably). He played for them for a bit and he's only played them twice since leaving. The first time was last season and he scored 22 points while taking 17 shots. Both Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton played that night and he was still firing up shots.

The other time he played the Pelicans was two weeks ago with Middleton and Antetokounmpo out of the lineup. He dropped a 40-piece on those guys but what was crazy was Holiday took 36 shots that night. That's overkill. He missed his first six or so so it's not even like he was hot. He was just angry.

I doubt the hate has gone anywhere and Middleton is not in the lineup tonight. The Bucks should smash these guys so we might not get the fourth-quarter minutes but we probably won't need them. If the Bucks are up 30, it's probably because Giannis and Holiday are going off. We only need 19 points here people.

* If you want to James Bond this thing you could take Holiday to score 25+points at +375 at FanDuel. I've definitely done dumber things with money before.
