Raptors vs. Spurs Prediction
The Spurs will travel to the 6 to take on the Toronto Raptors tonight. The Spurs enter this game sporting an overall record of 14-21 under head coach Greg Popovich. On the flip side, the Raptors enter play tonight with a record of 16-17 overall lead by former championship-winning head coach Nick Nurse. Both of these teams are looking to find a hot streak this season as neither has been able to get on a big run yet to this point.
The Spurs came into the season knowing they would have some challenges on the defensive side protecting the rim and blending these young talented players together. The overall season for them has been average as they currently sit a half-game out of a play-in game to make the postseason. The Spurs will have a challenging task tonight against this gritty Toronto Raptors team as the Spurs will be missing Dejante Murray, Lonnie Walker, and Doug McDermott.
The Raptors are the much healthier team in this spot tonight, and they come into this Tuesday night battle as a seven-point favorite over the Spurs. The Raptors are currently the tenth seed in a jam-packed eastern conference as they will look to get back to the .500 mark tonight at home. Toronto comes into this game as a heavy seven-point favorite while the total sits at 224.5
In this game, the play I am turning to will be the Spurs team total under 109.5. The Spurs will be missing some key players tonight who are extremely productive players on the offensive end. They will be without their best overall player in guard Dejante Murray. Murray is the Spurs leading scorer and leads them in assists averaging nearly nine assists per game while scoring an average of 17.8 points per game. The Spurs will also be down Lonnie Walker Jr and Doug Mcdermott, their fifth and sixth leading scorers. Mcdermott is also one of the best three-point options for the Spurs. These players missing for the Spurs make me question where their offensive production will come from in this game.
Toronto also plays at one of the slowest paces in all of the NBA, which makes me love this bet as the Spurs will have fewer opportunities on the offensive end. The Raptors come into this game with one of the best scoring defenses in all of the NBA, allowing just 106.7 points per game, good for 11th in all of the NBA. The defense of the Raptors combined with the pace that they will play with makes this bet a no-brainer to me. The Spurs will need other guys to step up big time tonight as they do not have three of their top six scorers and missing their best assist man. I do not think the Spurs can overcome all of these situations, so give me the Spurs team total under in this game tonight.
Raptors vs. Spurs Pick
- Spurs Team Total Under 109.5 (-125)
