New Orleans Pelicans vs. Minnesota Timberwolves Prediction

It is time for the NBA as we return to the hardware on Tuesday night. We have a pretty mid-sized slate for tonight's game, but I found a play I love. I am looking at a battle between the Minnesota Timberwolves and the New Orleans Pelicans.

The Timberwolves enter this game tonight, playing to a .500 record on the season. The Pelicans come into this game with a record of 14-26 on the season. The Pelicans have had to deal with a lot of injuries this season, including missing their franchise player in Zion Williamson. Williamson, a former number one pick, has been out all season, and it has killed the Pelicans this year. The Pelicans have also missed star, Brandon Ingram for multiple games this season. The Pels, however, still have a shot at the postseason due to the poor play in the Western Conference. They will look to get back on track tonight against a hot Minnesota team.

The Timberwolves are a fairly healthy team entering tonight. The Pelicans also enter this game tonight fairly healthy as well and will look to get a win at home tonight. Three-headed monsters have led the Timberwolves in Anthony Edwards, Karl Antony-Towns, and D'Angelo Russell. Karl Anthony Towns is putting up all-star numbers this season, scoring 24.5 points per game and being a matchup nightmare for many teams. The Pelicans will have one of the better guarding centers on him tonight in Jonas Valancuinis, and they will turn to Jaxson Hayes, the more athletic center, to give them some minutes off the bench tonight. Brandon Ingram has led the Pelicans this season as expected in the absence of Williamson.

The play I am turning to tonight will be to back the home team in the New Orleans Pelicans. I love this spot for the Pelicans tonight as the home dog, and I want to get into why. The first reason I love this play is the line tells the tale in this game. The Pelicans have struggled all season long and are just a three-and-a-half-point dog tonight? That is a trap line if I have ever seen one, and I will not fall into that trap tonight. I will go the other way, however, and back this Pelicans team.

The second thing is this is a very healthy team considering the current state of the NBA with covid issues and injuries. Brandon Ingram has been great this, scoring 22.5 points per game, and he will have to lead the way tonight for the Pels. This is a great matchup for Ingram, and I believe he will be able to take advantage tonight. This Timberwolves team is playing good basketball, but they are due for a letdown, and this is a great letdown spot tonight on the road. The Wolves will be playing their third straight road game, which is a tough spot to be in. I think this is the perfect fade spot tonight on the Wolves, who will hit regression, and I love getting the points with the home team, who I think wins outright.
