NBA Parlay Breakdown
We start our multi-team parlay with a tough game between the Golden State Warriors and the Milwaukee Bucks, in a potential preview of the NBA finals later this year. Draymond Green continues to be a huge loss for the Warriors, who are still waiting to pair their big three together since Klay Thompsons return from injury, while the Milwaukee Bucks are likely without Jrue Holiday, which is a tough blow to their chances tonight. Those injuries mean both teams are missing an important member of their starting five, which evens the playing field somewhat. Vegas has the Bucks as a minor favorite for tonight's contest and given Golden State's lack of presence down the middle, I can understand why. But Stephen Curry has his backcourt running mate back, and the Warriors are a more dangerous team because of it. Furthermore, if you want to back trends, and I have mentioned this before, the Warriors are yet to lose two games in a row this season, and having lost to Memphis in their last game, will be keen to keep that record alive tonight. The Bucks, on the other hand, have just lost back-to-back games against the Charlotte Hornets, and now come up against a far superior offensive team in the Warriors. This game will come down to the wire, and the spoils will go to whichever team's stars get hot, but I have ridden the Warriors on most money lines this season, and won't be changing course tonight.
The Brooklyn Nets are playing at the Barclays Center tonight, meaning Kyrie Irving is unavailable for their contest against the Oklahoma City Thunder. While the star guard's absence is tough, the Nets have dealt with this issue all season and will be accustomed to playing without him. Another issue facing the Nets, is this game comes hot off the heels of their huge win against the Chicago Bulls last night, so could we see some tired legs out there in the second half? For all the talent Brooklyn has, most of their players are aging stars, and that could be a deciding factor tonight. But, if we're being honest, the Thunder aren't the sternest of opponents, despite their pluckiness. The Thunder has lost 5 of their last 6 games, and over the last 2 weeks have had the worst offense in the league, along with a middling defense. It's hard to see them inflicting any serious damage on this Nets roster, regardless of how tired they may be. I'm rolling with a Nets team that is trying to get their act together after losing 5 of their last 8 games.
Our last game in this multi-team parlay is between the Denver Nuggets and Portland Trail Blazers. Portland is without Damian Lillard, CJ McCollum, Larry Nace Jr., Norman Powell, and likely Cody Zeller - they will be running their "B" team tonight, along with Jusuf Nurkic. You can point to Denver's injury issues all you want, but they will still have Nikola Jokic manning the middle and Aaron Gordon operating on the wing, along with some key veterans plugging the gaps. Portlands season has been a disaster thus far, and you have to wonder how long it is until they blow it up and enter a rebuild because it feels inevitable at this point. For tonight's game, we're backing a Nuggets team that has been hovering around .500 all season. When a team is as wounded as the Trail Blazers are, they go into survival mode, trying to keep games close and steal a couple when the other team doesn't bring the energy, but the Nuggets are a smart half-court team and will maximize their possessions, and that's where the difference in this game will be made. I feel confident ending this parlay with the Nuggets on the money line.

What can I say? The Memphis Grizzlies are good. Damn good. Possibly one of the best teams in the Western Conference. And they're only going to get better. Currently, on a 9 game unbeaten run that spans back to December, the Grizzlies have found a new gear, and don't show any signs of slowing down. Ja Morant is exploding into one of the best point guards in the NBA, Jaren Jackson Jr. has begun growing into a star forward, and the rest of Memphis' roster fit perfectly alongside each other.
Tonight, the Grizzlies face a Minnesota Timberwolves team that has blown hot and cold all season but come into the game will a clean bill of health. The Timberwolves are similar to the Grizzlies in that the majority of their roster has been developed via the draft, and are all improving players - but they're a step or two behind the Grizzlies in their development, and that will likely be on show tonight. The only thing separating these two teams is consistency and hunger. Minnesota continually impresses and then reverts to a frustrating version of themselves, while the Grizzlies play a specific way every day, regardless of who is in or out of the roster. I can't see Memphis' winning streak coming to an end today, leading me to back them to win their game by six or more points tonight.

It's a weird world when you're backing the New Orleans Pelicans to come out on top against the Los Angeles Clippers, but here we are. Of course, part of the reason we're leaning into a New Orleans victory is that the Clippers are missing their two best players, and have a roster built to accentuate those two guys, not to supplement their skill - which is a big difference, and a huge part of why they're struggling right now. But once you add Luke Kennard, Justice Winslow, and Isaiah Hartenstein to their injury list, the Clippers look like a skeleton team who will struggle to hang with even some of the worst teams in the league. And no disrespect to the Pelicans, but they've been one of the poorer rosters this season. However, while the Pelicans have only won 2 of their last 6 games, their execution has looked way better than it did earlier in the year. Honestly, this game is a coin flip, and if there were other games to choose from, I would have avoided this like the plague. Still, here we are, and with my back against the wall, I'm backing Brandon Ingram and Devonte' Graham to get things done against a makeshift Clippers squad.
