NBA player prop pick and prediction for Thursday night's game between the Knicks and Pelicans. Handicapper John Hyslop has his eyes on a Kemba Walker prop that you don't want to miss out on.
ANALYSIS

NBA Player Prop Picks for Thursday: It's Kemba Time

I really don't like this NBA slate one bit. There's just not a lot to get excited about since there are only three games. Two of the games feature teams I avoid like the plague (Phoenix, Dallas and Golden State) so that hurt too. Still, it's Thursday night and I have bowling. You literally can't show up to the lanes with no action. That's unacceptable. For that reason, I went over the New Orleans Pelicans vs New York Knicks game 12 times looking for anything other than a Mitchell Robinson prop. I think I found one.

Kemba Walker Over 14.5 Points @ -118 (Bet $100 to win $84.75)

Odds available at FanDuel at time of publishing

I took this over at FanDuel since both BetMGM and DraftKings were in the -120s on this one. I know that isn't the biggest difference but every penny counts on these streets. It should be noted that Barstool didn't even list Kemba so he wasn't an option there. Maybe they'll join the party at some point. Maybe they won't.

If you are in a position to sit this one out, you can. The angle is not the strongest but if we're being honest, not betting tonight simply isn't an option for me. The thing is, Walker's number came in low enough today that he could actually be worth it.

The tough part about Kemba is he's streaky and you never know when the streak will end. He finally came back after missing a few weeks and looked half decent the other night. He only took 13 shots but he turned those shots into 19 points which would win tonight.

Tonight is a home game and in Walker's last five home games going back to November, he's covered this number in four of them. He's a better three-point (41%) and free throw shooter (86%) at MSG so that is one reason why. Him taking eight three-point attempts last game is another encouraging sign.

The Knicks have the Pelicans tonight who don't exactly play fast but they play faster than the Knicks so this is technically a pace-up spot. Only five teams in the NBA rank worse than the Pelicans in terms of defensive efficiency so there's that too. There's no chance I'm sitting out tonight and unless we don't get any news later, this will be my best bet for tonight.
