NBA Player Prop Picks for Friday: Jimmy Butler Cashes With Dimes
Today is probably going to go down as the greatest day in gambling history. First off, it's Friday. On top of that, we get to watch Ayo Dosunmu on ESPN at 8:00 pm ET. You literally can't have a bad Friday but when Ayo is on national television on a Friday, magic is possible. But this article isn't even about Ayo Dosunmu, it's about someone else. Jimmy Butler to be exact. The books made a bad mistake and I feel like it's going to cost them a few bucks tonight. I just hope it doesn't cost someone their job because if one of us messed up this bad at our job, we'd probably be looking for a new one. That's just how work works.
Jimmy Butler Over 7.5 Assists @ +104 (Bet $100 to win $104)
Odds available at FanDuel at time of publishing
I'm at FanDuel because DraftKings is only giving even money for this banger. Barstool wants -113 and BetMGM doesn't even have props up for this game. It will be worth it to look there later but there's nothing right now. The good news is, +104 is fine with me. Feels right.
The Miami Heat are missing Tyler Herro and Kyle Lowry tonight so that means somebody else will have to run the point. I think that's Butler. It definitely looked that way against Portland the other night before he got kicked out. He only finished with three assists that game but you can't get assists when you aren't even allowed to play. That's just how assists work. Nothing new.
In his 15 minutes against the Trail Blazers, our guy Jimmy was a passing machine. He looked majestic out there while ending up with eight potential assists. I don't even know how they calculate these potential assists but that doesn't matter. Eight is good.
Tonight the Heat play the Atlanta Hawks in what should be a close game. It's unlikely that Butler will get kicked out again since nobody gets kicked out two games in a row. It just doesn't happen. Assuming he's allowed to play, the Hawks present a good matchup since 61% of their opponents' buckets come via the assist.
I wish we could James Bond this thing but it doesn't feel like the best idea. We would have to go up to 10+ at +240 which isn't ridiculous but it's a hike. Butler has hit 10+ in two of his last four games so it's not out of the realm of possibilities. Plus it's Friday night so it is a great night to party. Your call there though.
