NBA Parlay Breakdown

The Charlotte Hornets face off against the Toronto Raptors tonight, and I can't help but lean towards a Toronto victory. Unfortunately, my faith might be slightly misplaced - the Raptors have only won 2 of their last 7 games and have been awful on offense over the last 2 weeks, yet it's worth remembering their roster was short-handed for some of that period. However, with none of their primary rotation on today's injury report, the Raptors will be looking to steady the ship after a rocky two weeks. The Hornets, on the other hand, continue to be a spectacle on offense but turnstile on defense, which will be an issue for them tonight due to Fred VanVleet and Scottie Barnes both being handfuls at the best of times. Gordon Hayward starts the day listed as questionable, and should he be deemed unfit to play, will be a huge loss to the Hornets' chances of getting a favorable result. Over the last two weeks, Charlotte has won 4 of their 6 games and has shown signs of defensive improvements - but they need to remain consistent for our opinion on them to change. For now, I think a healthy Raptors team will be too much for the Hornets to handle on defense, yet a +8-point spread for the Hornets makes me feel confident about our chances.

For our second leg of this parlay, we have a fantastic game between the Los Angeles Lakers and Brooklyn Nets - which Vegas is expecting the Los Angeles-based team to win. The Nets are without Kevin Durant, Joe Harris, Kyrie Irving, and Paul Millsap for their game tonight, and will struggle to hang with a Lakers team that is likely to see Anthony Davis sharing the floor with LeBron James and possibly Russell Westbrook (if he isn't benched). It's tough to point to any statistics when injuries ravage one roster like this, as the odds are already stacked against the Nets, and unless James Harden snaps out of his funk, and the refs magically start blowing their whistle for him again, Brooklyn is a genuine underdog for their contest tonight. I still think the Nets have enough about them to keep this game relatively close and feel a +9-point spread should get us there or thereabouts at the final whistle.

Our last leg sees the Golden State Warriors facing off against the Dallas Mavericks. Luka Doncic and co. won their last game against the Stephen Curry led team, but the Warriors are a team to crave revenge and will be confident of getting some payback tonight. Klay Thompson starts the day listed as questionable due to some knee soreness, but that's to be expected after so long away from basketball, while Draymond Green continues to be on the injury report too. Dallas, on the other hand, is healthy outside of Sterling Brown and will lean heavily on the Doncic/Porzingins pairing as they bid to make it 2-wins-from-2. When looking at team form, the Warriors have gone .500 over the last two weeks, while the Mavericks have won 5 of their last seven. However, Golden State has been an elite team all season, and a slight blip isn't going to deter me from backing them each and every night. As such, I'm giving us some wiggle room with a +11-point spread for the Mavericks and would be shocked if we don't find any success.

Boston Celtics vs. Sacramento Kings Same-Game Parlay

The Boston Celtics should be winning their game against the Sacramento Kings, which means they're likely going to find a way to lose - that's been the story of their season thus far. However, after Tatum's 51-point scoring outburst over the weekend, and the team's slight uptick in form, I'm feeling more confident about backing Boston to win a couple of games. Of course, our player props lean heavily on Tatum's production, and both seem reasonable expectations for us to have of him entering tonight's game.

From Sacramento's standpoint, they're in for a tough night, especially if De'Aaron Fox is deemed unable to play (he's questionable to start the day) - yet, even if the Kings do have their star point guard, they don't fill you with much confidence. Sacramento boasts a bottom-10 offense and the 28th ranked defense in the league, while the Celtics defense currently sits top-5 on the season. I'm expecting another big scoring night from Tatum and hoping Jaylen Brown gets in on the action too, while the Kings' best chance of success is an all-around performance from young guard Tyrese Haliburton, who can give you a little bit of everything. Of course, I'm not putting all my faith in Boston, I've been burned by them too many times this season, which is why we're giving the Kings a +11-point spread to cover all of our bases.

Philadelphia 76ers vs. New Orleans Pelicans Same-Game Parlay

The Philadelphia 76ers continue to remain competitive despite their lack of perimeter defense (injury-induced) but with Matisse Thybulle listed as questionable for tonight's game, the Sixers could get a much-needed boost. Both the Sixers and Pelicans have won 4 of their last 6 games, the difference is, Philadelphia is a top-10 offensive and defensive team whereas the Pelicans are 27th in offense and 24th in defense - one team is struggling, and the other overachieving. At the time of writing, the Pelicans haven't released their injury report, but we can rest assured that Zion Williamson's name continues to be on there, and in truth, it's the only name that matters to them. As such, we're expecting the Sixers to win tonight's game on the back of Joel Embiid and Tobias Harris, and honestly, I would be shocked if they struggled at all. But, we need to give ourselves options if we want another 100% day, which means we're taking the Pelicans on a +10-point spread, which should get the job done!
