Toronto Raptors vs. Charlotte Hornets Prediction
The Charlotte Hornets will travel north of the border on Tuesday night to take on the Toronto Raptors. The Hornets come into this game playing to an overall record of 26-21 on the season, playing pretty well to this point in the season. The Hornets have been a fun team to watch this year; not only do they have the best announcer in the NBA, but they are surrounded by young stars. Lameo Ball gets a lot of the spotlight, and rightfully so, but Miles Bridges has been one of the most improved players in all of the NBA this season; Bridges, the former Spartan, is leading the Hornets in the scoring department this season, averaging north of twenty points per game.
The Raptors have had an average year to this point, but I feel like they can go on a postseason run. Led by head coach Nick Nurse the Raptors have not been able to stay all that healthy to this stage in the season. Fred VanVleet has been the Raptor's best player scoring nearly twenty-two points per game. The power on this team also comes from all-star forward Pascal Siakam, who has been in and out of the lineup this year but, when healthy, has been great for Toronto. Another player to keep an eye on for tonight's game will be rookie forward Scottie Barnes, who is currently second in NBA rookie of the year odds. He is one of the best young defenders in all of the NBA. The Raptors are a slight three and a half point favorite in this game.
The play I am turning to in this game is going to be to back the Hornets on their team total under 110.5. I know at first glance this play is scary because they are one of the best offenses in all of the NBA. They also like to play with pace, which can make people not love this play. I love this play because of the pace that the Toronto Raptors play at and their awesome defense.
The Raptors rank towards the bottom of the league in possessions per game and pace, so I believe that the Hornets will have limited possessions in this game. The Raptor's defense is about as good you can be, ranking towards the top of the league, and they continue to get healthier. The Hornets may also be down Gordon Hayward, one of the team's best scorers. I think this number is just too tall to get to in this spot, so I am willing to take the under here in this game tonight. The only way I see this game going over will be if the Hornets shoot lights out from three. We should get this win fairly easily and keep things rolling tonight!
Raptors vs. Hornets Pick
- Hornets Team Total Under 110.5 (-110) (Bet $110 to Win $100)
