NBA Player Prop Picks For Thursday: Let's Get Looney
What you're about to read is quite possibly insane. Crazy talk really. Looney even. But it's Thursday and a Thursday without gambling is not a Thursday I want anything to do with. Why would there be no gambling? Because there are only two NBA games tonight. The only thing we have going for us is the fact that both are televised. And the fact that we can bet on them. Other than that, we're toast. Now there is nothing I would say I like in either game but since I'll be out for both, I need action. That's just how going out works. Luckily for us, I found something I think is just outside the realm of possibilities. With a little luck, it could get home. I've already moved on it.
Kevon Looney 10+ Rebounds @ +122 (Bet $100 to win $122)
Odds available at FanDuel at time of publishing
I'm at FanDuel here since we're getting plus money. The other spots all have 8.5 in the -120s which is fine but I want the +122. If you're playing Kevon Looney to get nine but not 10 then you don't really understand what it means to bet on Kevon Looney.
Kevon Looney is a man amongst boys out there. Or at least he looks it. Guy legit looks 45 years old. It's not quite a Greg Oden thing but close. The important thing is, he doesn't look old on the glass. And that's where we need him tonight.
I'm not going to sugarcoat this one bit. I'm too classy for that. I would not be making this bet if there was a full slate of games. But there's not and it's bowling night. My hands are tied here. Desperate times call for desperate bets. Everyone knows that. I don't want to call myself a hero for this one (humble) but history might.
The thing is, Kevon Looney could actually grab 10 boards tonight under the right circumstances. Tonight kind of qualifies too. The Warriors are going to have to matchup with Karl-Anthony Towns. That guy plays 30+ minutes a night so that means Looney may see his ceiling in minutes. He may only see 25-28 minutes but that's a whole lot better than the teens.
I'm not just guessing on this either, it already happened this season. Twice. In two matchups with the Timberwolves so far this season, Looney played at least 24 minutes. In both games he pulled down at least 12 boards. He grabbed 17 in one of them. This could be the gutsiest call any sports bettor has ever made. I can't wait to see how it turns out.
