First off, LeBron is doubtful for this game which gives me the confidence to actually place this bet. The Lakers have lost their last 5 first quarters without LeBron and we’re out here getting points. I also don't mind just playing Blazers 1Q ML for + odds but I feel like being conservative and getting the extra point of insurance tonight.
Crazy enough, this bet has more to do with the Blazers 1st quarter success than it does with Lebron being out for Los Angeles. Don’t let the 21-30 record fool you, the Blazers have won the 1st quarter in 9 of their last 10 games. Portland has this habit of starting games really well and then crumbling throughout the game.
Portland on the other hand shouldn’t be dealing with any major injuries besides the obvious one with Damian Lillard. Jusuf Nurkic and Simons are both probable so I would be shocked to see either miss tonight’s contest. The Blazers have been without Dame for the 9 of last 10 stat provided so it’s not an injury that we are overly concerned about.
When these teams faced off this year we saw Portland dominate in the 1st quarter once and Lakers dominate once. With Lebron James likely sidelined I think we see another big Portland 1st quarter, especially with the nice run they're on at opening games as of late. We don't even need to win the quarter, we could tie or lose by 1 heading into the 2nd.
