Atlanta Hawks vs. Phoenix Suns Prediction
The god-awful New York Knicks broke our four-game NBA win streak last night. The Knicks should be kicked out of the NBA, but that is a story for another time. Tonight we have a hell of a battle between the red-hot Phoenix Suns and the Atlanta Hawks.
The Suns are having a historically good season led by guards Chris Paul and Devin Booker. The Suns, who won the Western Conference last season, sport an overall record of 41-9, which is good for the best in the business. This is an interesting team because we know about the star power with Paul and Booker, but this team's role players seem to fit perfectly. To name a few, Jae Crowder, Cam Johnson, and Mikal Bridges have been outstanding to this point in the season and last season.
The Hawks, who had a great season of their own last year, saw their championship hopes fall short to the Milluwake Bucks in the Eastern Conference finals. That was still a huge accomplishment for this young Hawks team. The leader for the Hawks has been all-star guard Trae Young who has been lights out for them this year. The Hawks started the season cold and saw themselves out of the playoff hunt. They quickly were able to flip the script on their season, rattling off seven straight wins before losing a close game to the Toronto Raptors without Trae Young. Young is expected to return to the court tonight and will be looking to get the Hawks back on a winning streak in front of the Atlanta faithful. This should be an exciting matchup tonight.
The play I am going to turn to for this game will be the Hawks with the points. I understand everyone and their mother is going to love the Suns, and I understand why they have been red hot, but here is a great fade spot for the Suns. I see them regressing in this game tonight against a hungry Hawks bunch on their home floor.
The status of Deandre Ayton and Jae Crowder is still up in the air, two significant pieces for the Suns, so also keep an eye on that. I expect a huge game out of Trae Young tonight especially getting the extra rest that he has gotten; he will be fresh for this game. This will be the first game of a four-game road trip for the Suns and sometimes the first game of a long road trip; you can catch a team a bit sluggish. I know how great the Suns have been, and while I do not love to fade the best team in the NBA, sometimes you just have to trust the line. The Hawks have been better at home this season, and they are starting to get much healthier. I believe they match up pretty well across the board in this game tonight. I am willing to fade the world and take the home team with the points.
