At this point, the only thing holding the Grizzlies back from continuing to roll the rest of the league might be proper motivation.
Memphis is sitting comfortably at third in the best with a 37-18 record that doubles as third best in the NBA by two games over Miami. They're 3.5 games ahead of fourth-place Utah and 5.5 ahead of fifth-place Dallas. According to Tankathon, they have the easiest remaining schedule in the league, there's little fear they'll be falling off a cliff anytime soon.
At the same time, they're still 4.5 games behind Golden State and seven games behind first-place Phoenix despite 18 wins in their last 22 games. The teams ahead of them - each 9-1 in their last 10 - simply refuse to lose, so it would be natural to wonder if they'll start to relax, even a little bit.
Don't bet on it. Given their brand of basketball and outright swagger, the Grizzlies seem to have manufactured permanent chips on their shoulder irrespective of what goals they're chasing. Ja Morant is the young NBA star on the rise and his play has arguably been the leading story of this season. The rest of the rotation knows their roles and executes them well.
As a result, Memphis hasn't lost a game to a losing team since December 20 and hasn't dropped a game against the spread against a losing team since December 29. They face the 27-28 Clippers team at home tonight, and while LA is a respectable 10-7 ATS as a road dog this season, this line pays them a little too much respect, especially against a rested Memphis team that hasn't played in three days. Give the points at home.

How long has it been since the Knicks won a game in Denver? Former Knick and Nugget Wilson Chandler was a year away from being drafted, and he's been retired for two years. Nikola Jokic was 11 years old, RJ Barrett was just learning how to dribble a basketball, and Denver head coach Mike Malone had just finished up a gig as an assistant coach with the Knicks and was still seven years away from getting his first shot at the lead gig.
2006 was indeed a lifetime ago, but the more things change, the more they stay the same. As was the case back then, the Nuggets have a top player in Nikola Jokic who has led a depleted roster to a respectable 29-24 record, while the Knicks are floundering with a nearly inverse record of 24-30 behind the inconsistent Julius Randle.
On the bright side, Randle just put together his first back-to-back 30-point games of the season and looks as good as he has all season in what has been a disappointing year. RJ Barrett is also in the midst of a star turn and Mitchell Robinson is finally looking worthy of a nice contract extension. As a result of that positive play, New York has taken double-digit leads on the road in two straight games.
They've also lost both games outright and against the spread, and this line doesn't pay enough homage to New York's struggles in Mile High and against this team. In addition to the losing streak in Denver, the Knicks have also lost seven straight against the Nuggets. That includes maybe their worst performance of the season earlier this year, and neither game last season was close.
Denver has been incredibly inconsistent this season and is just 23-30 ATS including 8-11 as a home fave. They up both of those numbers tonight. Give the points at home.
