NBA Eastern Conference Title Predictions: Looking for Value in the East
The Nets and 76ers made the most noise at the trade deadline. But, Johnny Covers is looking for a little more value is his Eastern Conference title picks. Who presents the best value in the market? Who should you be betting for your Eastern Conference future? Let's take a look.
Miami Heat @ +600 (Bet $100 to win $600)
Don’t look now but the Heat are not only the #1 seed in the East if the season were to end today, but still have basically the same core that got them to the NBA Finals just two seasons ago. Led by Jimmy Butler and 6th Man of the Year favorite Tyler Herro, this team has players all over its roster that can take over a game at a moment’s notice.
Add in the fact they have some players who specialize on the defensive end and one of the best coaches in the league in Erik Spoelstra and if the Heat can maintain a home-court advantage, look for them to be right there come the Eastern Conference Finals.
Atlanta Hawks @ +5000 (Bet $100 to win $5,000)
I grabbed some Hawks at +8000 to win the NBA Finals a few weeks ago and have watched those odds shrink each and every week. Currently slotted for the play-in tournament, the Hawks are just five games out of the 6th seed, and starting to play their best basketball of the season has now won nine of 12 and getting healthy at the right time.
People seem to be overly discounting that this is largely the same roster who not just made the Eastern Conference Finals last year, but had the Bucks at 2-2 before collapsing in Game 6. If the duo of Trae Young and John Collins can remain healthy, I like for the Hawks to make a push late where anything could happen.
