Julius Randle has been playing like his old self again the past two weeks. In that span, he is averaging 27.7 PTS, 12.7 REB’s, and 7.1 AST. With him playing so incredibly I see Thibs playing him in the high 30’s or low 40’s in minutes if the game remains competitive. Although it’s a new look Nets team, we saw Randle go for eight assists the last time out vs Brooklyn this season. Given the minutes and history, I like the chances for him to get just six.
When RJ Barrett is out of the lineup (like he is tonight) we have seen Randle hit this prop in seven out of 10 games this year. Losing a ballhandler and scorer like RJ will inevitably put the ball in Randle’s hands more often and create more opportunities to fill the stat sheet.
I love Randle’s recent success scoring the ball because that could draw double teams and if that’s the case then we could see him even have more potential assists in a game like this. In the last game, Randle had 17 potential assists and if that were to happen again we would only need his Knicks teammates to make shots at a 35 percent clip for him to get there for us.
The game spread here is just +4.5 and Brooklyn allows the fifth most assists to PF’s. Both of these facts in support to I’ve already provided are further reasons to happily drink the juice here.
In fact, I see Julius Randle recording a triple-double at +1100 on both MGM and Caesars. That is absolutely worth a sprinkle. Randle just had a triple-double last game vs OKC and didn’t even need the OT that game provided. With Kemba in the doghouse and RJ hurt I think Randle should see primary ballhandler duties at times in this game. Six assists is very in play and let's hope his teammates want to score the ball tonight.
