NBA All-Star MVP Picks
LeBron James (+650) (Bet $100 to Win $650)
Let's start with LeBron James because the case isn't that hard to make. While LeBron only played 13 minutes last season, in his 16 All-Star game appearances before that, he averaged just over 24 points winning the MVP three times already. Additionally, LeBron is also playing in Cleveland, a city that obviously is deeply tied with his career. While it's very possible he could just play a quick 13 minutes again, I think this game means something big to him and we are getting some pretty solid odds at +650.
Ja Morant (+850) (Bet $100 to Win $850)
Now Ja Morant does have a couple of things working against him here. Being on the underdog team, they likely need to upset Team LeBron in order for this to be possible. The best thing Ja Morant has going for him is he’s an absolute star. Nobody can question this guy's talent on the court and it's clear he’s the future of the league. With guys like Curry and Giannis, who have already won this award participating, I think it's very likely that the NBA rewards the future of the NBA this year, and I can't think of a better option than Ja Morant in his first All-Star game.
Andrew Wiggins (+7500) (Bet $100 to Win $7500)
Finally Andrew Wiggins. Should you bet on Andrew Wiggins to win the All-Star MVP? Probably not. At +7500 is it worth at least a couple of bucks? I hope so. All I can imagine Andrew Wiggins has heard for the last couple of months is how ridiculous it is that he’s an All-Star starter. While he's clearly not the most talented person in this game, I really can't think of anyone else that would be motivated to give more effort than Wiggins. This is quite possibly his only All-Star game appearance, and I think he plans to make good use of it.
Team LeBron vs. Team Durant Pick
This is the squarest play of the week, but it's kind of obvious that Team LeBron is the better constructed team. LeBron is 4-0 in All-Star games he's picked and it looks that this group of guys are destined to continue the streak. While it's the All-Star game and anything can happen, I'm choosing to back the team loaded with a bit more talent. If they're asking me to only lay six points with LeBron back home in Cleveland, I'll take the bait.
All-Star Game Pick
