The Timberwolves come into this game in prime position for the postseason for the first time in a long time. It appears the Wolves have found their guys with Anthony Edwards and Karl Anthony-Towns. The play of DeAngelo Russell has also been a huge boost for them this season, along with other role players.
The Blazers have had a very tough season, basically going into tank mode after their star player Damian Lillard went down with an injury. The injury of Lillard put Portland in a position to be sellers at the trade deadline, and they did just that. The Blazers moved on from all-star shooting guard CJ McCollum while also dealing Norman Powell and veteran Robert Covington. The trades allowed some more time for guys who were not getting big minutes, including Anfernee Simons. Simons has been great for the Blazers this season. Since stepping in as a starter, he is averaging north of twenty points per game. They have also gotten good looks at some other young talent on the floor. The Phoenix Suns may have figured out a formula to allow the Blazers not to score as last game, they doubled Simons the whole game after he had eleven points in the first quarter. This is a young Blazers group at the moment that may struggle against this Timberwolves roster tonight.Â

The play I am turning to tonight will be the Trail Blazers on their team total under. I can not see who is going to score big points for them tonight or how they are able to keep pace with the Timberwolves in this game. I think they will show Simons a lot of double teams, especially in the second half of this game, and make others step up and beat them. This is not a good shooting team from three, and they have limited big men that can put up points in the paint. I think the line is a bit of an overreaction to the Timberwolves not being a great defensive team. I think they will be good enough here to keep us under this number tonight. This will take great shooting by the Blazers and great pace by the Blazers that I just do not see them being able to play with tonight. Let’s keep things rolling and go 6-0 on NBA this week!
