Stuart Durst gives his favorite NBA Player Prop. Should you trust PJ Washington to get the job done tonight?
ANALYSIS

Wednesday's NBA Player Prop Pick from Beyond the Arc: Riding PJ Washington

After going 3-1 in terms of profitable days last week, I'm excited to start this week off with a bang. The Hornets are one of my favorite teams for 3-point betting, and a matchup against Boston with a 223 total is very enticing. I’m expecting a competitive game here, and I think we found some very good value.

PJ Washington o2.5 3PM +250 (Bet $100 to win $250)

While you could definitely play this one safe, and take 1.5 at -130, I think we are getting some good value on this one. We are seeing PJ Washington's role continue to grow on this team, despite the mid-season acquisition of Montrezl Harrell. With Washington’s versatility, not only can he start at the four, but he can very easily play small ball center minutes for this Hornets team that tends to ride the hot hand.

Since the All-Star Break, Washington is averaging over 30 minutes per game and looks to be playing some very solid basketball. He's gone over 2.5 3PM in three of his six games back so far (going over 1.5 in four of six). In the first game of February, he played the Celtics and ended up scoring 16 points on 4-9 shooting from beyond the arc. He is coming off a back-to-back, playing 37 minutes, but considering the fact that he is a 23-year-old player on a playoff contending team, I don't think he's gonna get a chance to rest here.

The Celtics are actually a pretty solid matchup here as well. While they are one of the best guard defenses in the NBA, that should open up additional opportunities for him out on the perimeter. The Celtics have also been great at not allowing points in the paint this year, which might disincentive him to attack them down low, along with also giving him a potential minutes bump considering Plumlee and Montrezl are both paint-only scorers.
