First off, I will explain how to find this market for those unfamiliar. After clicking on “NBA” scroll over to “Game Props” and then “Team Totals” and you should find it. Now that we’ve got that out of the way, why do I like the under on one of the best teams in basketball?
There are numerous reasons but we’ll start off with Boston’s games vs Detroit this year. These two teams have matched up three times and Boston has scored 113, 111, and 102. In three games vs Detroit, they haven’t hit 116+ once and have averaged 108.6 points per game. That may sound low but it’s only 1.1 points less than their season average of 109.7.

Are the Pistons the best defense in the league? Not by any means but this is a super inflated number in a matchup they haven’t looked great in this year. I see this being another low-scoring grit and grind game and Vegas agrees with their 216 game total. Boston has only scored 116 points or more 18 times in 67 games. This under has a hit rate 73.2% which is great value for -115. Detroit has prevented the likes of Chicago, Atlanta, and Indiana from hitting this number in their last 3 games and have been sneaky good lately boasting a 6-4 record in their last 10 games.
The Pistons will not be winning this game but I think they will do just enough to prevent Boston from running 116 or more points on their head. Boston averages less points at home than on the road as well which is a rare sight to see. The Pistons don't come close to allowing this many points a game and the Celtics don’t come close to scoring this many points a game. If I had to make a guess I’d say Boston wins this one 112-97 or something in that realm. I know this is a funky market and it’s a play we’ll have to sweat but this bet is three for three on the under this year and has a 73.2% hit rate for Boston in general, the numbers add up.
