Detroit Pistons vs Miami Heat Line Movement

Detroit Pistons vs Miami Heat Prediction

The last time the Pistons made bettors regret backing them, we have to go back more than a month, to Valentine's Day, when the Pistons lost by nine on a 3.5-point spread in Washington. Since then, Detroit has gone 6-5 overall and 10-0-1 against the spread. They're riding a three-game losing streak and pushed in their last outing, a four-point home loss to the Clippers, but it doesn't change the fact that we need to start taking them much more seriously.

The driving force, unsurprisingly, is Cade Cunningham. While the Pistons as a whole are still tied for the second-fewest wins in the NBA, with Cade on the floor this season, they have a point differential closer to that of a team with a handful more wins. That may not seem like a lot, but when they continue to get tagged with lines like this one, it's worth considering.

Narrowing things down to just their last 11 games, the Pistons are actually outscoring teams by 2.6 points per 100 possessions with Cunningham in the game. The Heat are only outscoring opponents by 5.4 points per 100 since the break, so it's not like these teams are that far apart, and they're just 7-6 ATS in their last 13 games.

These teams played earlier this season, also in Miami, and the Pistons lost by just three. This game might not be as close, but with a spread this large, it doesn't need to be. Take the points on the road.

Memphis Grizzlies vs Indiana Pacers Line Movement

Memphis Grizzlies vs Indiana Pacers Prediction

This one comes down to a pretty simple question: how much faith do you have in the Grizzlies without their offensive engine.

Bettors had to grapple with the same uncertainty earlier in the season, when Ja Morant - who is listed as doubtful in this game with a bad back - missed a dozen games. Memphis memorably turned around its season in that stretch, going 10-2 with several big wins, including one that set the NBA record for scoring margin in a game.

A big part of that success was Dillon Brooks, who spent most of the last few months sidelined, but made his return against Oklahoma City on Sunday night. In those dozen games that Ja missed in late November and December, Brooks played in all but one, pouring in 20 points a night in the process.

This line certainly factors in Ja's absence but doesn't seem to account for Brooks being back. The Pacers are feisty but this line isn't prohibitive where that's concerned. Give the points on the road, and keep the faith in the NBA's best team against the spread this season.
