Sacramento Kings vs. Phoenix Suns Prediction

After today's games, there are still three weeks remaining until the conclusion of the regular season on April 10. Even with all that time remaining, by the end of tonight's action, the Phoenix Suns may not have anything left to play for.

At the moment, the Suns sit with a record of 57-14. A win tonight against the Kings would mean that they could finish with no worse than 24 losses. The Grizzlies and Warriors also play today, and while both teams are favored to beat the Rockets and Spurs, respectively, losses by each of them would be their 24th apiece. In other words, the inevitable march the Suns have been on towards the top seed in the West is likely to reach its conclusion in the next 48 hours.

Not that that's all they're playing for. Right now, the Suns are on pace to finish with either 65 or 66 wins. That would be several victories clear of the previous franchise high of 62, achieved twice by Barkley and Nash-led versions over the last 30 years. It would also make them just the 22nd team ever to finish with at least 65 wins, which is something of a notable number. Of the previous 21 teams to do so, 15 went on to win the title.

They will not be taking their foot off the gas, and if you needed proof of that, look no further than their positive 10.5 net rating since the break, good for 3rd best in the NBA over that time. They're also 5-1 since Devin Booker returned from his brief COVID absence, with wins by 29, 27, 19, 17, and 16 points.

The Kings? They're playing out the string like usual, losers of six of seven games. De'Aaron Fox is also questionable for this game, and with Tyrese Haliburton now in Indiana, it's not like they have a ready made replacement at point guard if he can't go.

Even if he can, it won't matter. The Suns continue to be a steamroller, and nothing is going to stand in their way - not until the playoffs at least. And even then, history says they're a good bet to go all the way. Give the points on the road.

New York Knicks vs. Utah Jazz Prediction

New York's streak of seven consecutive covers finally came to an end on Friday night thanks to another customary late-game meltdown against the Wizards. Up 96-81 with under four minutes to go, the Knicks allowed the Wiz to go on a 16-2 run, and were a Kyle Kuzma 3-pointer away from pulling off a potential upset.

That shot rimmed out, and New York escaped after trying to steal a loss away from the jaws of victory. It was, however, another step in the right direction in some senses. Despite Julius Randle and RJ Barrett each putting up matching 6-for-22 shooting performances, the Knicks were mostly dominant in this one, and they continue to play top-five defense with Kemba Walker not on the court.

The Jazz are a different caliber of opponent than Washington, but they've still had their struggles. Utah has dropped five straight against the spread on the road, and they will be without Mike Conley and Bojan Bogdanovic for this one, in addition to Danuel House Jr and Trent Forrest. Hassan Whiteside is also questionable. Those names may be as important as Mitchell and Gobert, but it doesn't change the fact that Utah may be down half of their normal rotation.

The Knicks should never be trusted completely, but they've been in every game they've played into the fourth quarter all but once since late January, and that was a blowout in Denver, where they never play well. This should come down to the wire. Take the points at home.
