NBA Parlay Breakdown

The Toronto Raptors continue to be a smidgen above an average team this year, as shown by their 6-of-10 record over the last 10 games but will have their work cut out when they come up against the Chicago Bulls later today. Make no mistake though, this is not the same Bulls team that was swatting opponents away left and right earlier this season, but they are still a formidable opponent and have won their last 5 games, taking their record for their last 10 games to 5-of-10. Alex Caruso's return can't be understated for the Bulls, as the energy he brings off the bench is integral to Chicago's hopes of success. The Raptors are yet to release their injury report for tonight, but we can assume there are no major changes to their rotation, but the Bulls will be without Lonzo Ball and are still waiting on Patrick Williams to return - although that will be later this week. As is the norm for me now, I like the Raptors to win tonight's game but will back them on a +9-point spread to make sure we cover our bases heading into tonight's game.

I have no idea what Vegas knows that I don't, but they have the Philadelphia 76ers as the underdogs heading into tonight's game against the Miami Heat, so who am I to argue. At the time of writing, the 76ers haven't released their injury report, but it's fair to assume we're unlikely to see either Joel Embiid or James Harden - that's the only explanation I can have to rationalize Vegas's decision. Miami will be sweating on the availability of Jimmy Butler entering tonight's game, but outside of that, will have their core rotation available. Over their last 10 games, the Heat holds a 7-3 record and are currently in first in the Eastern Conference standings. The Sixers, on the other hand, are 6-and-4 in their last 10 games after falling to the Toronto Raptors last night. I like the Sixers here if they're healthy, but you can't guarantee that, which is why a +12-point spread for Philadelphia makes sense and has me feeling comfortable heading into the last leg of this parlay.

I really enjoy the games between the Minnesota Timberwolves and Dallas Mavericks, the teams have faced each other twice already this season, with the series tied at 1-1, and will face each other twice again this week. Both the Timberwolves and Mavericks are on a good run of form, and both have budding stars leading the charge. In terms of injuries, the Timberwolves will be sweating on Karl-Anthony Towns who is listed as questionable heading into the game, while Spencer Dinwiddie is back in the Mavericks rotation. While the Mavericks have been the recipient of recent praise, the Timberwolves are proving themselves to be no pushovers, so I envision this game going to the wire - assuming Towns is eventually cleared to play. As such, I'm going to give Minnesota a +9-point spread to try and even the playing field and account for any fluctuations in roster availability heading into the game.

The Boston Celtics hold a 19-3 record over their last 22 games and are coming into tonight's matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder on the second night of a back-to-back following their mauling of the Denver Nuggets last night. Boston currently holds the best defensive rating in the NBA and is a top-10 three-point shooting team since the turn of the year - there's a reason so many people are starting to believe the Celtics are an outside bet for finals appearance this year. The Thunder, on the other hand, is 1-9 in their last 10 games and continue to show they're multiple years away from being a formidable NBA opponent. Neither team has released their injury report at the time of writing, but regardless of injuries, the Celtics should have more than enough talent and depth to defeat the Thunder, assuming they're locked in and looking to continue stringing wins together. I don't hold much hope for Oklahoma here, which is why I'm backing Boston on the moneyline, despite the risks of this being a trap game for the Eastern Conference team.

This is another game where Vegas might know something I don't, but, they have the Brooklyn Nets as slight favorites heading into their game against the Utah Jazz. While I understand that from a talent standpoint the Nets are indeed the favorites tonight, Utah has the better body of work this season, and that has to account for something. Looking at the injury reports, I can see that the Nets are without Kyrie Irving and Ben Simmons tonight, leaving Kevin Durant as the lone star to lead the line, while the Jazz is yet to release their injury report. Perhaps Rudy Gobert or Donovan Mitchell will be missing tonight - who knows? Utah is 6-4 over their last 10 games while the Nets are 5-and-5 over the same amount of games - so it's fair to assume this game will come right down to the wire. The only thing I have to say here is that the Jazz have far better unity within their roster due to how long their team has been together, and when the going gets tough, that can count for a lot. But, I'm here to make a profit, so I'll be backing the Nets on a +8.5 spread while taking Durant and Dragic as my player props - because every string of parlays needs a long shot.
