NBA Parlay Breakdown
I've been on a bit of a downswing recently, and despite feeling confident in my approach, it feels like it's time to change the strategy one final time. So, rather than backing the underdogs to cover the spread each day, let's try something different and see how it goes. Because we're coming close on almost all of our bets each day, but a couple of points here or there are hurting the outcome.
The Utah Jazz comes into tonight's game against the Charlotte Hornets after succumbing to the Boston Celtics'stifling defense on Wednesday night. Still, we're talking about one of the better teams in the NBA here, even if their recent rough patch doesn't prove it. What makes tonight's game against the Charlotte Hornets so exciting, is that both teams play a similar brand of basketball, where the three-point shot is king, and the earlier you get your shot off, the better.
This style of basketball can either work really well, or not at all, and it seems to be differing from day to day. Utah is .500 over their last ten games, but do have the 2nd most made threes this season, while the Hornets are 7-and-3 over their last 10, which does give Charlotte the slight advantage in terms of momentum. Neither team is coming into this game with new players on the injury report, which is good for them, and good for us. The biggest differentiator here is defense - the Jazz is good at it, and the Hornets' aren't. So, taking the Jazz on a +3-point spread might be the best course of action here.
It feels like the Dallas Mavericks and Minnesota Timberwolves play each other every week, or maybe the weeks are just blending into one - either way, we know how this match-up looks. Tonight will be the fourth meeting between these two rosters, and the Mavericks are currently leading the season series 2-1. Dallas has won 7 of their last 10 games and has been mightly impressive as a defensive unit for a few months at this point, and now find themselves 6th in defensive rating.
Still, the Timberwolves have been electric since the turn of the year, and in my opinion, are one of the most fun teams to watch. Just like the Mavericks, the Timberwolves have won 7 of their last 10, but this roster has something to play for - they're desperate to clinch a playoff place and appease Karl-Anthony Towns' hunger for post-season basketball. Both of these teams are incredibly talented and have star power, but Luka Doncic is the star that burns brightest in tonight's game, and that matters when everything else is so closely contested. Let's give the Mavericks a +5-point spread here because no matter how things shake out, tonight is going to be a close game.

When you think of the New York Knicks, the only word that comes to mind is dysfunction, and they haven't failed to live up to that billing throughout the season. It's kind of sad too because they showed so much promise last year. New York is now five games outside of the play-in tournament, and barring a minor miracle, their season is all but over - yet we should at least expect them to keep trying! Tonight, the Knicks are going to face conference leaders, the Miami Heat, which doesn't do them any favors if we're being honest. Miami is a well-oiled machine with a deep bench and lots of elite-level talent, they're going to come into this game looking for blood. Tonight will be the third and final time these two teams face each other and the Heat will be looking to make it a clean sweep for the series after winning their last two contests. Both teams have a number of players listed as questionable for tonight's game, so we can expect a lot of walking on eggshells during the build-up. I like Miami for this game, they're simply a better team with far less going on behind the scenes, a +4-point spread for the Heat has me feeling very comfortable.

When fully healthy, the Golden State Warriors are one of the best teams in the NBA, but they haven't been fully healthy in almost two years. Just after getting Draymond Green back from injury, and reuniting their big three, Stephen Curry was added to the injury report for the foreseeable future. The Warriors just can't catch a break, and their 2022 record is reflective of that. Tonight, the Warriors will face a team that has been based on their image in the Atlanta Hawks. Atlanta is basically a .500 team this season, and their record over their last 10 games is reflective of that, with the team winning 5 of their 10 games. The Warriors had a strong start to their year, so their season record can be misleading when considering their recent plight, but their record over the last 10 games does paint a clearer picture, with the team splitting their games with 5 wins in 10 attempts. Golden State is a better defensive team than Atlanta, and Jordan Poole is amidst a breakout season, but the Hawks are an excellent offensive team and that's why I have them as slight favorites here. A +6-point spread for Atlanta seems fair here, while I also expect Andrew Wiggins to make the most of the space he's going to find when cutting behind the defense.

NBA Single-Game Parlay Odds: +120 (Bet $100 to Win $120)
I can't envision a world where this iteration of the Los Angeles Clippers manages to subdue the Joel Embiid and James Harden duo, but that's going to be their task tonight. The Sixers propelled themselves into championship contention when they added Harden to their rotation in February, and have been impressive since the addition. Tyrese Maxey is developing into a fantastic third option, and Tobias Harris is still on the roster too. Let's be fair, Ty Lue has been great this year and has coached the Clippers into a respectable team despite missing some of their best players for the entire season, but I don't think the Los Angeles team will be able to overcome the task at hand. I'm backing the Sixers on a +6-point spread, just in case something goes terribly wrong tonight, but I doubt it.
