NBA Parlay Picks Breakdown
A couple of unexpected losses took our chances of large-scale success away, but that's the nature of the beast, so we must endure.
Still, without Stephen Curry, the Golden State Warriors get a slight schedule reprieve today, as they face off against the struggling Washington Wizards. With no Bradley Beal. Kyle Kuzma, and possibly no Daniel Gafford, the Wizards are a shell of the team that shocked the NBA with their hot start to the season. Suddenly, the competitive re-build is looking like a failure, and questions about Beal's future are starting to swirl. Of course, none of that helps us tonight. We still have to find some value in what projects to be a mismatched affair. so, I'm going to rock with the Warriors on a +5-point spread, as I expect them to take advantage of this opportunity.

Another team that seems to have lost their way a little in recent weeks is the Utah Jazz. There was a point in the season where the Western Conference team looked unstoppable, and their run-and-gun offense was gaining a ton of traction. Utah even managed to coast through multiple injury issues, including stretches without Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell, yet for some reason, the Jazz is 5-5 in their last 10 and look vulnerable on both sides of the floor. Their opponents for tonight, the Dallas Mavericks, are on the other end of the spectrum having struggled earlier in the season, and are now rounding into form and surging up all major statistical rankings as a result. Dallas has won 6 of their last 10 games and will have some confidence coming in against the Jazz following some of their recent performances. However, there's not much to separate these two teams, so I decided to get creative. I personally favor the Mavericks in this game and think they will grind out a victory, but to cover my back, will be backing them on a +10-spread heading into tonight's game.
Kyrie Irving being cleared for full-time play has swung the Eastern Conference wide open, as it gives the Brooklyn Nets some much-needed continuity. Irving's return to the rotation will also allow Kevin Durant to operate off-ball a little bit more, which will only serve to make him more dangerous and allow him to elevate his game further. The Charlotte Hornets, on the other hand, are still a fearsome opponent on the offensive end of the floor, and with LaMelo Ball leading the way, will always be a threat in transition - yet, despite being held back by their porous defense for the past 18 months, the Hornets are still poor on that side of the floor, and that doesn't bode well when facing two top-10 players coming into a game with a point to prove. I really like Brooklyn here, but want to ensure I don't overvalue them, so will be backing the Nets on a +4-point spread.

Depending on how other results shake out, the Celtics could find themselves moving into the Eastern Conference's top spot tonight. So, considering how dominant the Celtics have been in 2022, and how motivated they will be to finish the season ranked as the best team in their conference, you can expect them to come out swinging tonight. Jayson Tatum is playing at a borderline MVP level, Marcus Smart has taken his passing game to new heights, and Jaylen Brown roaming in an off-ball scoring role is working perfectly - frankly, it's hard to see how teams are going to limit the Celtics when they've got their eye on a prize. But, the Minnesota Timberwolves will be out to prove the Celtics aren't indestructible, and considering the current surge the Timberwolves have been on, thanks to stellar play from Karl-Anthony Towns and Anthony Edwards, and similar to Smart, D'Angelo Russell has embraced a playmaking role. So, there are a lot of similarities between these two teams, however, the Celtics do have more talent throughout their roster, and more importantly, are full of connecting pieces. As such, I think the Celtics are slight favorites coming into this game, but after a three-day break, they may be a little out of rhythm to start things off, which is why I'm giving Boston a +4-point spread.

No team has been more dominant this season than the Phoenix Suns. Fresh off a heartbreaking NBA finals loss last year, the Suns have been swatting aside all challengers this season, despite having their star talent in and out of the rotation. Still, without JaVale McGee and Frank Kaminsky tonight, Phoenix is going to be light on big men to throw at Joel Embiid, and that could be a problem. Jae Crowder will probably do most of the heavy lifting on James Harden, and Deandre Ayton will be an admirable foil for Embiid, but Philadelphia has the best one-two punch in the NBA right now, and this is going to be a tough test for the Suns' defense. Still, Chris Paul and Devin Booker are an exceptional back-court and are proven game-changers. We could potentially be witnessing a precursor to the NBA finals tonight, and that's an exciting thought, considering how great both of these teams are. However, the Suns have continuity within their roster and that could be the difference-maker here, especially as Embiid and Harden are still learning to play together. I've got the Suns winning tonight's game by a possession or two, but understand that this really could go either way, which is why a +5.5 spread on the Suns was so appealing to me.
