NBA Parlay Picks Breakdown

The downswing continues, but it's ok! We've been here before, and know how to navigate through a rough patch!

When you talk about a slumping team, the Indiana Pacers are close to the front of the line. Myles Turner's injury has come at the worse time for Rick Carlisle's men, and when you factor in the other players that are missing from the rotation, you begin to understand why Indiana is struggling to keep afloat. Over their last ten games, the Pacers have won 3 times, and have lost their last 3 consecutive games. Now the Atlanta Hawks stand in the Pacers' way of getting back in the win column and having won 6 of their last 10, will be a stern opponent. Atlanta is currently ranked 3rd in the NBA for offensive efficiency, while both the Pacers and Hawks are equally as poor on the defensive end, ranking 26th and 27th respectively. So, we have two defensively poor teams, but one vastly superior offensive unit. It's no wonder that I'm so bullish on the Hawks winning tonight, and their task is only made easier by the Pacers injury report having 8 rotation players on there, meaning they're coming into tonight short-handed.

The Miami Heat have lost their spot atop of the Eastern Conference, which is what happens when you go 4-and-6 over your last 10 games. The weird thing about the Miami Heat is they will either destroy you or roll over - it's very rare we see anything in between. But, when it comes to the ignominy of losing your commanding position in the East, that's something I'm expecting to fire up Miami's competitive unit. The Heat have a great opportunity to snap their cold streak later today, as they face off Western Conference struggles, the Sacramento Kings. To make matters worse for the Kings, they're still without their star pairing of De'Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis, which will hinder their chances of getting a good result - as it has in recent weeks. The Kings currently hold a 3-7 record over their last 10 games, and despite winning two on the bounce, don't project to be a match for Jimmy Butler and co. Miami will also have all of their big three available for tonight, which helps turn the heat up on the Kings' defense from the opening tip. I'm riding with Miami on the money line here - it's the only logical thing to do.

The New York Knicks seem to have found a new gear over the last week or so, and now sit 6-4 over their last 10 games, but this sudden uptick in performances is a little too late, as they're fairly far outside of the playoff picture. Still, it's better to resolve some of the bigger issues that derailed their season now, than wait until the off-season. But, while the Knicks may or may not be on the come-up, the Chicago Bulls are still floating around, trying to find the killer instinct that decimated everybody in their path earlier this season. The Bulls currently sit 11th in offense and 21st in defense, with a net rating that situates them 17th in the NBA. Sure, the Knicks are the worse offensive team, but their defense is considerably better than what we're seeing from the Bulls. I like New York in this game - I know, it sounds crazy, but there's something to be said about finishing the season strong and resetting the negative vibes surrounding the organization. I'll be rocking with a +9.5-spread for New York in this game.

Tonight could be a scheduled loss for the Boston Celtics, especially after Robert Williams sustained a knee injury in last night's game against the Minnesota Timberwolves and won't be traveling with the team. The Celtics are yet to submit their full injury report, but I have a feeling we're going to see a couple of extra names sitting out this contest. On the Toronto Raptors side, the only major question is if Gary Trent Jr. is going to be cleared to play - other than that, their primary rotation is fully healthy. Toronto and Boston matchup extremely well, and regardless of who plays tonight, this game is going to be a battle. Can the Celtics stop the Raptors' mid-range game? Limit their rim pressure? And how will Toronto break down the best defensive team in the league? So many questions that need answering! I honestly don't know which way this game is going to swing, but I'm inclined to ride the hot hand of the Celtics, which is why a +10-point spread for Boston makes so much sense coming into this game.

A lot of teams on today's parlay list have been slumping, and the Golden State Warriors are no different. The Warriors' inability to pair all of their star talents together for more than a two-game stretch has finally caught up to them, and they're sliding down the standings as a result. After spending the first half of the season ranked 1st in defense and net rating, the Warriors now sit 3rd in defensive rating and 5th in net rating - which considering how long they dominated these rankings for, is quite the drop. Tonight, the Memphis Grizzlies will face off against a Stephen Curry-less Warriors team, and will probably look to get out to an early lead where possible. However, Ja Morant continues to miss time and Jaren Jackson Jr. is questionable heading into the game, so maybe the playing field will be more level than some expect. Either way, the Grizzlies come into this contest as the resounding favorite, and while you should never count the Warriors out, it's clear they've got a mountain to climb. Still, I'm going to give Golden State every opportunity to prove the oddsmakers wrong and will be backing them on a +14-point spread.
