Brooklyn Nets vs Detroit Pistons Prediction
So this isn’t a juice race to 30 points, Brooklyn must score 30 in purely the first quarter. The regular first-quarter total for Brooklyn is 32.5 so we’re getting a three-point discount on just hoping Detroit doesn’t get there first. Brooklyn just have such a superior roster and with Detroit shutting down Jerami Grant it seems like they could be joining team tank. I think Dwane Casey has too much pride to tank to the levels that Orlando did last night but he won’t have any issues losing this game. I’m expecting a motivated Brooklyn team out of the gate to try to get some needed fourth-quarter rest to prepare for Thursday's TNT game against Milwaukee.

Brooklyn have scored 30+ points in 11 of their last 12 and have averaged 33.8 points per game in the quarter. Kevin Durant loves playing the whole first quarter which is why I looked at this bet in the first place. Brooklyn scoring more in the first lately isn’t a coincidence when arguably the best scorer in basketball is out their all 12 minutes. The last time these two teams played we saw Brooklyn hit this prop scoring 31 against Detroit and that was without Kyrie. Now that Irving is a full-time member of the team I’m looking for him to build some further chemistry with his teammates and help make Brooklyn the best possible threat in the East.

This game has a total of 234 and Brooklyn is expected to score around 124. If that’s the case that would be 31 per quarter on average and if KD plays the whole first then I’d expect the first quarter to be more than the second quarter. Detroit doesn’t consistently allow this number but they have allowed it in two of their last three and Brooklyn is their toughest test in this stretch. I truly think the only way we lose is if Brooklyn ends a bucket short, I don’t see a world where Cade Cunningham and Saddiq Bey outplay Kyrie and Durant. As a Pistons fan, I would like to see that, but as someone who doesn’t sniff glue, I just don’t see that happening. The numbers believe in this one and I do too.
