Sacramento Kings vs Houston Rockets Best Bet: Kings Are in a Different Gear
This is a game between two bottom-feeders in the NBA but two teams who are headed in vastly different directions. The Rockets recently shut down Christian Wood, Eric Gordon, and Dennis Schroder who have been three of their top players over the last few months of the season. The Kings on the other hand have been a resurgent group over the entire month of March and have been playing extremely competitive when they could be tanking.

Over the last few weeks, the Kings took the Suns to OT, nearly beat the Bulls by double digits, notched road wins over the Spurs/Magic/Pacers, and stayed close with the Nuggets/Bucks and Jazz for a majority of those games. The Kings have been playing with almost an entirely new group of players as their best players in Fox/Sabonis have been out due to injury. First Round pick Davion Mitchell has really stepped up lately as he has scored in double figures in 9 of his last 10 games and has 20+ points in four games in a row.
Mitchell is a good offensive player, and it is a good sign that he is blossoming in this role, but his best attribute is his defense. Mitchell is the definition of a lockdown on-ball defender and can really impact a game with his defense. Kings had a huge comeback against the Magic the other day which was sparked by a Mitchell steal + layup in the final seconds to send the game to OT. Mitchell has a steal in seven straight games and 10 total in his last 10 games and I really think he is going to make life difficult for whoever he is a matchup against tonight whether it be Jalen Green or Kevin Porter Jr.
The Kings have also been getting significant contributions from their bench during this recent stretch of resurgence. Donte Divincenzo has been a great addition for them as he has added athleticism and 3-point shooting to their lineup. He has shot 36% from three since joining the Kings and has scored in double figures in four straight games so he is finding his stride in this new uniform. I think he will be a big mismatch off the bench against this Rockets team who lack depth at the moment.
The Rockets have been competitive over their last couple of games but one thing they have really struggled with is consistency and continuity. They have dealt with numerous injuries on the year and now with their best players being shut down and only a few games remaining, you have to wonder about their true motivational level to get up for these types of games.

The same can be said about the Kings but the reason I like the Kings in this spot is that this new group has shown to defend and play with high energy all the time no matter who they are playing and the same cannot be said about the Rockets. With that being said, I am rolling with the Kings ML at -138 tonight for one of my most confident NBA picks of the night.
