NBA Parlay Picks For Thursday: Los Angeles Lakers vs. Utah Jazz, Bucks vs. Nets, And More

Thursday's ParlayPicks

Odds: +129 (Bet $100 to Win $129)

Parlay Breakdown

It's not very often that I consider the outcome of a game to be rubber-stamped, but tonight's contest between the Philadelphia 76ers and the Detroit Pistons is one of those times. The Sixers might have lost their last 2 games, but their 6-4 record over the last 10 tells us the team is slowly figuring things out. The James Harden and Joel Embiid duo isn't a combo you can sleep on, and the defensive intensity of Tyrese Maxey, Shake Milton, and Matisse Thybulle gives the Eastern Conference contenders a good balance of offense and grit. Now, don't get me wrong, the Detroit Pistons are a pesky team, they will come into a game and look to rough you up every step of the way. But beyond their physicality, the Pistons don't have much legitimate talent - at least not that has developed towards their ceiling yet. To make matters worse, Jerami Grant will be missing from Detroit's lineup tonight due to injury, which takes away their most efficient offensive punch. As such, I'm backing the Sixers on the money line - they're deeper, more talented, and are pushing for the top spot in the Eastern Conference, and that motivation will be a powerful tool for them.

The Cleveland Cavaliers haven't released their injury report at the time of writing, but I'm willing to hazard a guess that Jarrett Allen is still unavailable due to injury along with Rajon Rondo, Dean Wade, and Collin Sexton. Yet somehow, the Cavaliers keep defying expectations, primarily due to their 4th ranked defense. And tonight, their defense is going to get a stern test, as the Atlanta Hawks and their top-3 offense are Cleveland's latest opponents. The Hawks have won 7 of their last 10 games and defeated the Cavaliers 2 out of the 3 times the teams have faced off so far this season. Cleveland's defense is designed to limit attempts at the rim and to force difficult perimeter shots, but unfortunately, in Trae Young, the Hawks have the perfect counter. I like Atlanta to win tonight, although I expect it to be a fun game played at a good pace. As such, I'll be riding with the Cavaliers on a +11.5 spread.

Our last game is between the Los Angeles Clippers and Chicago Bulls - a contest between two teams that aren't what many had hoped for to begin the season. But at least the Clippers have a reasonable excuse. Still, with Paul George back in the rotation, the Clippers look like a worthy opponent, and judging by their 25-point comeback earlier this week, are out to prove they're going to be a legitimate title contender next season. The Bulls, on the other hand, have lost 6 of their last 10 games, and their inconsistencies have seen them fall to fifth in the Eastern Conference. Neither team has any new names on their injury report, but the Clippers will certainly be boosted by the return of George, although I'm not sure if his presence will be enough to swing the odds in the Clippers' favor. As such, I'm going to roll with the Clippers on a +9 spread.

The Milwaukee Bucks and Brooklyn Nets face off tonight, in what is possibly an Eastern Conference Finals matchup. These two teams faced off at the end of February, with the Nets snagging the victory in that contest. Still, both teams project to have their best rotations available tonight (minus Ben Simmons) which should make for a stellar contest. It's hard to get a gauge on this game, as the statistics are misleading due to the number of injuries both teams have dealt with this season, even when looking a recent performances things look incredibly even, with both teams going 7-3 over their last 10 games. Overall, I do think the Bucks are the more well-rounded team, and fully expect that to shine through tonight, but you can never count out a team with Kevin Durant on their roster. I'm expecting a Bucks win tonight, with Middleton showing post-season form and Durant having his way, but will cover my bases by running with the Bucks on a +9-point spread.

Utah Jazz vs. Los Angeles Lakers, Single-Game Parlay

  • Utah Jazz Money Line
  • Under 227.5 Points

Odds: +102 (Bet $100 to Win $102)

No Anthony Davis, no LeBron James, no momentum, and hopes of making the playoffs slowly fading away. Right now, it's not the best time to be a Los Angeles Lakers fan, and things are only going to get worse when the team faces the Utah Jazz later tonight. The Lakers have lost 7 of their last 10 games and are clinging on to the 10th seed by half a game, which could be taken away tonight when the Jazz handle their business. Utah is no joke, especially when they're playing at their optimum level, which they won't need to be in order to overcome a hobbled and aging Lakers team. I'm not sure where the Lakers' defense is going to come from, or if Russell Westbrook can carry the offensive burden and find a way to score on Rudy Gobert in the paint. As you can tell, I'm not bullish on the Lakers' chances tonight, so will be running with the Jazz on the money line.
