Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Washington Wizards Prediction: Will Karl Anthony Towns Crash The Glass?
Karl Anthony Towns is such a great player. Fading him isn’t something I ever like doing, especially in the midst of fighting for playoffs. This matchup just isn’t an advantageous rebounding one and this number feels high. Washington hasn’t allowed an opposing center to hit 11+ since Mitchell Robinson did on March 18th. It has been over two and a half weeks. Towns has been under this number in 4 of his last 5 games with the one miss being a hook at 11. The man only averages 9.8 rebounds per game so asking for 11 is a lot.

Washington enter this game as 12 point underdogs so you would expect then to miss plenty of shots and give KAT rebound opportunities. Although I can’t refute that I would counter it by saying it increase his chances of resting in the fourth quarter if the outcome is already decided. We have seen Minnesota beat the breaks off of teams and KAT plays less than 30 minutes. I just think this number doesnt make sense especially given the matchup. KAT has played Washington once this year and only had 10 rebounds in what was a very close game, this one has blowout potential so he would see significantly less court.

Washington has held big men like Vucevic to 5 rebounds in over 30 minutes lately and although I don’t see a masterclass like that against Towns I think it’s a great indicator that asking for 11 is extreme. Vanderbilt had a rough rebound showing last game vs Denver and that’s a trait of his that he hangs his hat on. I would be shocked to see him have two poor rebounding performances in a row which makes me like this bet more as well. KAT will get his buckets, have a few nice dimes but this just doesn’t feel like a crash the glass night for the big man. If he has 6-7 at half but Minnesota is up 10-15 points I think we’re still a good spot with the potential rest he could see, I’m happily on this one today with no regrets.
