Brooklyn Nets vs Cleveland Cavaliers Line Movement

Brooklyn Nets vs Cleveland Cavaliers Prediction

Make it 10-5 over their last 15 games for the Brooklyn Nets. They have the third-best offense in the league over that time and a respectable defense that is doing more than enough to hold most teams down.

Cleveland certainly qualifies as "most teams," at the moment at least. They're scoring just 112.7 points per 100 possessions in their last 15, over which they've gone just 5-10 - the inverse of Brooklyn's record. Their only road win in the last month has come against the Knicks, with their other results away from home as follows: a 24-point loss in Atlanta, a 13-point loss in Toronto, a 10-point loss in Chicago, and a 12-point loss in Miami.

Part of the issue is that their once sturdy defense has broken down. They have the 24th ranked unit in the league since the break, as both Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley continue to be sidelined.

This game isn't a hard call. Brooklyn has all the motivation in the world to win because if they do and then take care of business in Sunday's season finale against the Pacers, they'll be the seventh seed in the East. That means a home play-in game.

This line doesn't take into account how much better the Nets have been playing of late and how much the Cavs have fallen off their early-season pace. Take full advantage and give the points at home.

New York Knicks vs Washington Wizards Line Movement

New York Knicks vs Washington Wizards Prediction

Talk about two teams that don't know how to take a gift.

Both the Knicks and Wizards have had different versions of the season from hell. For the Wizards, it was about Bradley Beal's injury and the Spencer Dinwiddie addition blowing up in their face. For the Knicks, it was about the failure of the Kemba Walker signing and the implosion of last year's MVP candidate, Julius Randle.

Sure enough, once both situations arguably hit rock bottom, these teams started playing well. Over the last dozen games, the Knicks are 7-5 while the Wizards are 6-6. Of the two, New York has been playing better, with a positive 2.2 net rating to Washington's negative-2.0, but each team can boast a few quality wins. The Wiz have notched victories over the Wolves, Mavs, Warriors, and recently competent Pistons, while the Knicks have wins over the Bulls, Heat, Hornets, and those same Pistons.

Of the two, Washington seems to be the pick here. After a very strong run from December 31 onward, RJ Barrett seems to be running low on steam, shooting just 36 percent overall and 26 percent from deep over his last seven games. With Julius Randle sidelined, if RJ is off, the Knicks are sorely lacking in players who can draw a defense's attention. New York is also thin, with Mitchell Robinson out and Quentin Grimes likely out tonight, meaning a 7.5 man rotation is likely in store once again.

Washington is also home and you know Kristaps Porzingis will be motivated to get his second victory against his old team. Give the points at home.
