The NBA wanted madness, and that's exactly what it got.
On the final day of the regular season, very little is set heading into next week's play-in games. While the 20 teams advancing past today's action are set, very little about the seeding is determined. Making matters more complicated, it's hard to know just how motivated certain teams will be to come away from today with a victory.
One of the exceptions to that rule is Cleveland. The Cavs have fallen precipitously over the last several months, but they still have a chance to end the season on a somewhat high note. Win on Sunday against Milwaukee and they'll ensure themselves at least two shots at the play-in apple. There's also a chance they can host the first play-in game, but that would require the Nets to lose at home to the long-tanking Pacers.

Even so, they'll be motivated. As for the Bucks, they've already listed Giannis Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton, Brook Lopez, and Bobby Portis as doubtful. They'll likely join Grayson Allen and George Hill on the sidelines, who have already been ruled out. It's not surprising as Milwaukee is perhaps the most obvious team with an incentive to lose. If they and the Nets both win, it'll set up a round one matchup with KD, Kyrie & Co. Not that the defending champs fear anyone, but having to potentially defeat Brooklyn, Boston or Philly and then Miami en route to the Finals is a lot to ask. Alternatively, if they slip to third or fourth, Chicago or Toronto awaits.
The Cavs haven't been very good but this one is being given to them on a silver platter. Take advantage and give the points.

Another matchup between one team with every incentive to win and another with every reason to lose.
As of now, Charlotte can still finish anywhere from 7th to 10th in the play-in round. That's the difference between hosting a game with the two chances to advance to being on the road for a one-and-done scenario. There is no chance they don't bring the heat, and lately, they've been successful in their efforts, having won two straight by a total of 37 points.
On the flip side are the Wizards, who showed their hand against the Knicks on Friday night. Washington rested several of their key starters and figure to do so again. The result was a 22-point loss against a New York team missing several of its own normal pieces and that saw an injured RJ Barrett leave at the half. The Hornets are a different animal, and they're playing at home.
