I’ve noticed this bet become a trend all year and for whatever reason never bet it, that changes today. Here's my best bet for Game 3 between the Minnesota Timberwolves and Memphis Grizzlies.
ANALYSIS

Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Memphis Grizzlies Prediction: Can Ja Morant and the Grizzlies Start Hot in Game 3?

You might be shocked to find out that the Memphis Grizzlies were the highest scoring 1st quarter team this regular season. Memphis averaged 30.1 points per game in the 1st quarter and was the only team to exceed 30 or more. Funny enough, Minnesota is actually second so I don’t mind the quarter total of 57.5 either. Memphis scores better at home than on the road but Minnesota’s pace and points allowed this season lead me to believe this bet has value.

So far in the series, we have seen Memphis score 33 in both games. I like that we’re not slightly clearing this number but we’ve been beating it by multiple field goals. In the regular season when Memphis played Minnesota, they scored 31, 25, and 33 so good for a 2/3 hit rate. Including playoffs, Memphis has cleared this in 80% of their matchups which is a great sign. I feel like the sharp line here would have been 30.5 so I feel like we’re getting a field goal discount which could be the difference between us winning or losing.

For the first quarter, Ja Morant has played 22 of the possible 24 minutes in this series. It’s reassuring knowing that during the majority of this bet we will have the star player on the court fighting for our cash. I think the environment will be a little crazy and the crowd is loud because Minnesota has been begging for a winner for so long but that could increase the pace of play and there could be more possessions than in your regular game. This is just one of those bets that have been a cash cow and I wouldn’t be able to forgive myself if I didn’t at least bet it once this year.
