Tonight we have a solid matchup in the NBA. The Dallas Mavericks vs. the Utah Jazz. The Mavericks hold a 2-1 series lead to the surprise of many. Luka Doncic has missed the first two games of this series, and many thought this team was dead once the news broke. The Mavericks have been far from dead, storming back, winning the last two games led by a young stud in the form of Jalen Brunson. Brunson is going to enjoy a payday this off-season when the time comes, but his focus right now is leading Dallas to win this series.
The Jazz looked to have a cakewalk to the second round after winning game one, but the script has been flipped. The Jazz will need stars Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert to step up tonight and lead them to a much-needed game-four win. There seems to be some tension between the team at the moment as they have struggled the last few seasons to win the big games. The Jazz have been a great regular season team and then a whole different story in the postseason. One game they can not blame is Donovan Mitchell, who averages north of thirty points in the postseason.
The status of star Luka Doncic looks doubtful for tonight, but I would be surprised if we did not see Doncic return at some point in this series, possibly as soon as game five when the Mavericks return home. The spread for tonight’s games is -5.5 in favor of Utah.Â
I am backing the home favorite here for a few different reasons. The first is they simply can not lose this game after what happened in game three. I love betting on desperate teams, and that is the case for tonight’s game. This is a great buy-low spot for the Jazz here at home. The Mavericks shot the basketball at a great clip last game from the three-point line, and I don't see that happening again tonight. Quinn Synder is one of the brightest minds in the NBA, so his game plan tonight should limit the three-point shooting from the Mavs. The Jazz crowd should inject energy into this team tonight that will lead them to a big win.
