ANALYSIS

Miami Heat vs. Boston Celtics Game 5: The "Why Not?" +1072 Same-Game Parlay

The NBA playoffs have not been great. One thing I do know that helps make the game more enjoyable is hitting a nice parlay. The good news is we’ve got Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals between the Boston Celtics and Miami Heat. The not-so-great news - no one is certain who all is playing, and who all isn’t – but we’ve got enough to work with for now.

Let’s see what a couple of dollars can do for us in tonight’s parlay. Why not? Time to discuss each leg that gets us to +1072.

Jaylen Brown (BOS) 6+ rebounds (-295)

Brown has cleared seven rebounds in his last five games. Brown has now gone over 6.5 rebounds in six of his last seven games. More importantly, he has cleared this number in every game in this series. Let’s hope he stays the course and gets six for us. He has cleared that number in every game this series, including the last game’s route against the Heat.

Kyle Lowry over 4.5 assists (-130)

This season, Lowry has cleared this number in three of four games vs. the Celtics. The only game he did not clear this number was Game 4 – where the Celtics jumped out to a 26-4 lead early and never really let up. A closer game tonight would result in a more stable workload, so I’m adding Lowry to the mix.

Jimmy Butler over 20.5 alt pts (-290)

Butler hasn’t been lighting the world on fire the last two games, but he has been playing very well. Game 5 is a pivotal one in any series, and I think we see the Jimmy Butler from Games 1 and 2. Butler has scored over 20.5 pts in all but two of his last ten home games. I like an 80% hit rate – consistency is key.

Jayson Tatum over 22.5 alt pts (-580)

The odds aren’t great - I get it. Tatum has gone over 22.5 pts in seven of his last eight games – eight of his last ten. Again, this is an important game in this series, and I expect the stars to show up. Simple as that.

Jaylen Brown over 2.5 3pm (-138)

This has almost become a system play when Brown plays the Heat. They are near the top in three-pointers given up to opponents, and Brown seems to find his spots. Brown has gone over 2.5 3pm in six of seven games against the Heat this year. The only game he did not clear was Game 4’s blowout. Let’s hope these teams keep it closer tonight.

Al Horford over 6.5 alt rebounds (-420)

Robert Williams is questionable, and while I was tempted to bring this up to 8 rebounds, we’ll stick with the over 6.5. Horford’s rebounding opportunities are off the charts, and he’s had 10 or more rebounds in seven of his last ten (with 8 or more in nine of his last ten games).

Al Horford 2+ assists (-590)

Horford has had 3 or more assists in his past 10 games. That is downright impressive for a big man. You can bring up his alt assists to over 2.5 and I wouldn’t blame you. Let’s hope Horford stays consistent here and gets us the two we need.

Give us a competitive game and let’s take our chances with this SGP for tonight’s game.
