NBA Draft Best Bet: Will Paulo Banchero Be Selected First Overall?

NBA Draft Prediction

Over the last 24 hours, there have been some insane line movements on picks 1-3 in this year's draft. A few days ago, Jabari Smith was as high as -1000 to be the number 1 overall pick. Then, last night, Paulo Banchero emerged and rose to become the betting favorite and even got up to as high as -200 to go number one overall.

Now, today ESPN reports from Adrian Wojnarowski have claimed that the top 3 is basically set at Smith number 1, Chet Holmgren number 2, and Paulo Banchero at number 3. After these reports, Smith was then steamed back to the favorite to be the number 1 overall pick as he currently sits at around a -150 to -300 favorite depending on your book. Woj is obviously a trusted NBA source and is typically extremely reliable but one thing that Woj cannot account for is draft day trades.

There have been multiple reports that the Rockets are in on Paulo Banchero and want him as their guy. The Magic currently have the number 1 pick and the Rockets are sitting with the 3rd pick. If the Rockets feel that the Magic may flip to Banchero, it’s highly likely that the Rockets will trade up to number 1 to take their guy. With that being said, the play I’m rolling with tonight is Paulo Banchero to be the number 1 overall pick at +200. I’m trusting that steam from last night and from multiple sources who are much more connected than myself who all believe that Banchero will be selected number 1 overall.
