Pelicans vs. Pistons Prediction

Jonas Valanciunas Over 3.5 Points * 1st Quarter (+105) Bet $100 to collect $205. DraftKings has the best odds, click here

We're at DraftKings again for this one since they have the first-quarter market. Honestly, I think I could be hooked on this market for the time being. We all have phases. Everyone knows that. I went through a first half-NCAA-B team total phase as well as a first-quarter NBA team total phase before. This feels just like those so it's going to be fine. Hopefully, other books start posting these because it would be fun to have more options. I'm a dreamer.

This guy might just be the perfect guy to bet on in the first quarter. I've been looking at this market for the past three hours and that's my takeaway. You never know how much this guy will play. His minutes are legit all over the map but he still finds time to be productive. Plus he is super handsy so he's getting called for fouls all the time. Again, I like that about him but it makes it hard to trust his minutes. That means first-quarter lines like this make sense.

Here's the angle, I'm playing and it's beautiful. It's the Brandon Ingram angle. Ingram has been out for four games now with some sort of injury. In the last three of those games, our boy Jonas has been doing a little ball hogging. Especially early. He's immediately trying to shoot the second the game starts. He's scored at least four points in each of the last three games. Even last game when he started fouling everybody. It didn't matter.

Tonight the Pelicans will welcome the Detroit Pistons to the Smoothie King Center and it could turn into a bloodbath. New Orleans is favored by 11 points right now. That's brutal. But here's the thing, lines don't matter in the first quarter. All that matters is matchups and this is a decent one given the fact that Jonas will hog the ball whenever he wants. On the season, the Pistons give up almost 23 points per game to the center position so it's not like we're talking about a good defense. Ben Wallace isn't walking through the door tonight. I think Jonas will have this after four minutes.
