Kings vs Timberwolves Prediction: Will De'Aaron Fox and Sacramento Stumble on Late-Night Back-to-Back?

Happy Saturday, everyone. Hopefully, you tailed yesterday’s Denver Nuggets play to have some extra units at your disposal on my personal favorite day of the week. For tonight’s play, we will be going back to the NBA well. My official NBA play of the day is the Minnesota Timberwolves +5.5 on the road against the Sacramento Kings.

Kings vs Timberwolves Prediction

Casual NBA fans may think what I just wrote is a typo. Surely the Kings are +5.5, not the T-Wolves, right? Wrong. Entering play with a healthy 37-25 record, the Sacramento Kings are actually good for the first time since I can remember. The Kings are one of the deepest teams in the NBA, featuring six players who average over 12 points per game. Last season's trade of Tyrese Haliburton for Domantas Sabonis was wildly criticized but has paid off during the 2022-23 NBA season.

What a time to be alive (shoutout to Drake and Future) when the Kings are favorites against a team that is also over .500. The public loves this team. That feels weird to say, right? How can anyone be a system against the Kings? It still makes me nervous betting on or against this team. Tonight, however, I face my fears.

While the Kings may be the best story in the NBA this year, it’s time to fade them against the Wolves tonight. The Minnesota Timberwolves have had an up-and-down season. Still patiently awaiting the return of big man Karl-Anthony Towns, the Wolves have been treading water to remain in playoff contention. Off-season acquisition Rudy Gobert has certainly bolstered the interior defense of the Wolves but, just as expected, has not yielded much in the offense department. That workload has largely been left to third-year phenom Anthony Edwards, the key to tonight’s game.

While the backcourt duo De’Arron Fox and Kevin Huerter have been highly productive on the offensive side of the ball, they each have room for improvement defensively. That’s where Edwards comes in. Fresh off his first All-Star selection, Edwards has struggled over the team's last three games, failing to reach 20 points in any of them. While the Wolves have been victorious in two out of three of those matchups, this team goes as Edwards goes. In his first two matchups against the Kings this season, Edwards is averaging 33.5 PPG. I expect the explosive guard to have a big-time performance tonight, and even am looking to sprinkle on his over of 26.5 points tonight.

I want to set the record straight. What the Kings have done this season has been great for the League. I promise I’m not some Kings hater. I hate them in this matchup against a hungry Wolves team.
