Our expert hoops handicapper Dan Canova gives his best picks for today's college games

In Sunday’s College basketball action, Trevion Williams finished with 16 points, seven rebounds and four assists for Purdue in a 71-42 upset victory over No. 8 Michigan State.

For Minnesota, Daniel Oturu had a game-high 30 points with seven rebounds and Marcus Carr contributed 21 points, 12 assists and four assists in a 75-67 win over No. 19 Michigan.

Here are Today’s College Basketball Picks:

Boston University @ Loyola

· The Loyola Greyhounds have won seven of their last eight games at the Reitz Arena. (Stat courtesy of Statschecker)

The Loyola Greyhounds are currently on a three-game losing streak heading into this matchup.

In their last game against Lafayette, Isaiah Hart finished with 21 points, four rebounds and three assists in a 65-62 loss. Jaylin Andrews added 12 points, eight rebounds and three assists.

Both Boston University and Loyola have 9-8 records entering this game.

The Terriers have a 3-1 record in conference games, but Loyola has a 1-3 record.

Ultimately, I believe Boston will walk out of Loyola with the win, but the Greyhounds plus the 5.5 points is the pick here.

Roll with Loyola plus the points.

2u – Loyola (+5.5) @ -150

South Carolina State @ Howard

· Since the 2013-14 college basketball season, the South Carolina State Bulldogs have a 25-24 record in games played during January. (Stat courtesy of Statschecker)

South Carolina State is looking to bounce back after a tough loss to Morgan State.

Damani Applewhite finished with 17 points and seven rebounds and Ian Kinard added 10 points and seven boards for the Bulldogs in a 77-63 defeat.

The Bulldogs enter this matchup against Howard with a 6-8 record. The Bison, on the other hand, have only two wins in 17 games this season.

South Carolina State is only giving 4.5 points in this game, which means they are the pick in this one.

Take them on the road minus the points here.

1u – South Carolina State (-4.5) @ -120

North Carolina Central @ Maryland-Eastern

· Maryland-Eastern has lost each of its last 12 night games.

· The Shore Hawks also have a 23-28 record as a home team in night games since the 2011-12 college basketball season. (Stats courtesy of Statschecker)

North Carolina Central is coming off a tough road loss to Delaware State.

Jibri Blount finished with a team-high 26 points, 13 rebounds, two steals and two blocks for the Eagles in a 68-66 defeat, with Ty Graves adding 12 points.

Maryland-Eastern has a 2-15 record this season. North Carolina Central isn’t much better, but they are the pick here on the road.

Feel confident taking North Carolina Central minus the 8.5 points in this matchup.

1u – North Carolina Central (-8.5) @ -120
