The Fighting Illini travel to Illinois after coming off a big win at home against Iowa. We all know that Ayo Dosunmu can absolutely fill it up and will look to get out in transition. Indiana plays well at home and is desperately in need of a big win. Indy is gonna slow the tempo down and play old school basketball. I think this is going to cause some problems for Illinois as they will want to get out in transition and speed up the ball game. Give me the Hoosiers at the crib!
The Pick: Indiana +2.5 @ -110
The 11-5 (6-9-1 ATS) UNC Tar Heels are on the road to face the 10-5 (7-7-1 ATS) Clemson Tigers. These are two teams heading in opposite directions. UNC has won 6 out of their last 7 games, while Clemson has lost 4 of their last 5 games. It’s worth to mention Clemson had a Covid shutdown right before this rough 5 game stretch. According to KenPom, UNC is ranked 54th on offense and 29th on defense. Clemson is ranked 101st and 20th. Looking at the stats, you will notice UNC’s offensive numbers are abysmal. However, if you look at UNC’s offensive numbers over their last 5 games, it makes you wonder if they have turned the corner offensively. UNC has scored over 75 points in each of their last 5 games, winning 4 of those 5. Clemson has not scored over 65 points in their last 5 games, losing 4 of those 5. The lone win against Louisville they scored 54 points. Also, Clemson’s strong defense has been weak lately. They have let up 79 or more points in 4 of their last 5 games. The key stat for me tonight is UNC’s rebounding. UNC is ranked 2nd in offense rebounding % and 68th in defense rebounding % per KenPom. Clemson is ranked 189th and 189th in those two categories. Look for the Tar Heels to crush the Tigers on the glass and for the big boys inside to get easy put backs all night. Mix Clemson’s rebounding concerns and poor recent form on both sides of the ball, UNC -2.5 is the play. Best of luck!
